Sometimes when your ads load, It crashes/freezes my firefox. I'll post the url of the ads name when it happens again, but if anyone knows why this is happening please let me know. Could it be my over-protected anti virus & firewalls?
So long as you have ONE decent firewall, and ONE decent antivirus, there should not be a problem. Running more than one of each is not recommended as they tend to interfere with each other and cause other problems.
Currently I got 2 Firewalls switched on. windows xp firewall & my anti-virus firewall. Could it really be interference?
Don't bother with windows XP firewall, its the computing equivalent to hiding from a tornado behind a sheet of wet tissue paper (with holes in it). In this situation, I would doubt it is interference, my statement was more generally it can cause interference. What antivirus/firewall package are you using?
Firefox does crash sometimes, it's hard to tell which ad it is though, since we crash before we find out.
I belive its the poker advert, somthing like poker 666?? does this help? when it happens i'll keep a note of it.
I got this. It doesn't seem to do it on the forums (i didn't even know we got ads on the forums) but on the main site whenever an ad fades in, the browser just crashes. And I'm using FireFox 2.0.12 (I think. Whatever the latest version is). Either way its made gettin FFCC a pain in the arse
I'm getting crashes as well. It's only ever when a 'blinkx' ad loads. A full screen one which you need to click 'return to Romulation' on. I'm also using Firefox.
Yup Blinx kills my FireFox.... not good for Romulation tbh. I generally support ads for community sites, as i know bandwidth costs. But if the ads aren't fixed im gonna install Adblock... : problem solved.
The only way I managed to solve the issue is by Temporerily not Accepting cookie's from other sites. On Firefox go to > "Tools" tab, then down to > "Options" then > "privacy" tab then Uncheck the "Accept cookies from other sites" box. Then the ads don't appear when you visit this site. (but make sure you re-check the box later, or else other web-sites like hotmail wont work)
