Download the latest firmware from http://www.linfoxdomain.com/ds/, then extract it, go into the english etc. folder, get all the files and folders in there, and replace your previous firmware files.

Same place as your games, on your MicroSD.

Once you have updated your firmware correctly, you should be able to play it. Also, check on the GUI or menu of the R4, it should say which version you are running.

You can put the ROM anywhere you want, then you just boot up your R4, select Games, and then browse for it, and play it.

Were you asked to overwrite files with the same name when you updated your firmware? If not, you didn't do it right.

Once you have extracted the firmware from the .rar or .zip file, there should be a folder labelled english or whatever language you downloaded, yes? Go INTO that folder, take all the files in there, copy them or cut them, go into your MicroSD, stay in the same place with all the old files, paste all your new files in there. It should ask you to overwrite, do so, and then you're done.

Well, replacing and overwriting is the same thing, so do it.
