ePSXe, some ISO's not displaying text properly

    I think it's ePSXe1.6.0, but I could be wrong.

    Anyway, I keep having games replace certain types of text with things like the following:

    ' . | ' . ' _ .

    For a specific example, Star Ocean: The Second Story does this to all of the text in the in-game menu screen, but nothing else. I don't think it's file corruption, as I've seen several other ISO's with the exact same problem.

    Should I download a different PSX emulator and try that, or is there some sort of translation patch that would work? (Speaking of which, where's a good place to find translation patches?)

    if you are using Pete's graphics plugin, there is an option to apply 'fixes' for particular games that have graphical glitches. You might want to see if any of those are appropriate.

    None of those seem to be working... Upon further inspection, the title screen seems to be missing most of its graphics, too. Yet the game itself plays fine (the first five minutes, at least).

    **EDIT**

    PSXeven runs it perfectly, but won't accept my controller, or even acknowledge that I have one. I'll look into this.

    Plugin found. No more problems.
