It seems that a large portion of PS games won't run and I don't know why.
    Here's a listing:

X-Com: Opening animation is fine; freezes when it ends.
Shadow Madness: Title screen is fine; freezes when I hit "new game"
Star Ocean: Actually works quite well, but the title screen his half not there. Had the same problem with the SNES version; wonder if it's related.
Theme Hospital: Opening animation is fine; freezes when it ends.
Vargrant Story: Won't even start. It's something about the compiling block being too large.

If there's another game that should be on this list, I haven't downloaded it yet. Every FF works and I can play Persona and Tekken and other games too, but these games are giving me trouble. I was trying to figure out whether it was a compatibility thing--like maybe all of these games were earlier PS games or later ones--but I don't know enough about them to make this judgment.

I've never had a problem with any game I've tried, although I admit I've never tried any of the ones in your list

The ISOs we provide are ISOs shared throughout the net, none, or only very little are our own rips, so problems with the ISOs should be minimal. Compatability with PSX games has always been shady, with large quantities of plugins for both video and sound it can be hard to find the right one.

The best advice we can give is keep experimenting and using Google. We cannot guarantee any of our games will be compatible with the current selection of emulators and plugins. We will, however, do our best to help find a solution to the compatability problems.

No it could no hurt. I am indeed using Pete's, however; but as I said, the only problem is the title. I honestly don't spend much time looking at it.

Also: I've found this forum thread on another site which seems quite helpful, but none of their setups do me much good.

well i have put them on mega-upload, pm me with ur email (or msn) i will send u a zip file if u have probs. its a rar with a load of config info in I haved saved from various sites. works pretty much 100% for me! u may need to use opengl 1 instead of 2 if I remeber rightly, but it tells u exactly wot to use in the configs, just I cant be bothered to re-format it all to put in here as there is quite a few different ones, if u look at the links on the pages they may still be active now, think there is some chrono cross configs and maybe Castlevania SOTN ones too.

Try to find a game compatibility list for ePSXe. I believe you should be able to find one. Chances are you just picked games that weren't really compatible with the emulator. Sorry man...

Then again, you could try some other emulators. Even though ePSXe is currently the best out there for the PSX, you can't ignore the others. Keep trying - something's bound to come up.

star ocean definately works, one other thing i just thought, you may want to try 1.60 and 1.52 as a few games apparently dont work on 1.60.
psx is another (apparently - not used as had no probs with epsxe) good emulator, but like i said, i have had no problems with star ocean at least.
