I downloaded Final Fantasy 8 but for some reason its not working with me.

the game itself would load slowly(it takes about 2-4 minutes to go from one screen to another)...it would start out with a statically very fuzzy...after the screen it starts with the opening credits and like I said goes slowly...the frame rate drops and I need help

DId you run it as an ISO or did you copy it on cd and play it off the cd?
Do you have the latest version of ePSXe which is 1.7?
Is your computer fast and capable of handling the requirements of the emulator and PSX games in general?

you might want to try ePSXe 1.5.2, I seem to remember someone saying Squaresoft games in general work better on that version.

Well the only thing I can think of is that either your computer is not up to standard to run the emulator or you might have to patch the game. Some psx games need to be patched in order to run properly. For more information see the ePSXe help file in the emulator folder and look under "Specific games" section and Final Fantasy 8. Other than that you can try get ePSXe 1.7 and download the latest plug-ins, there are new ones that were released with the new version of the emulator a few months ago. Play around with the configuration maybe as well. Thats the best advice I can give you. Good luck :)

I had FF8 working on a crappy machine years ago so I doubt its that.

I don't know if it will help you or not, but this is my configuration for FF VIII. I'm running ePSXe 1.70. The plugin is Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.77. Hope this helps you. You may want to lower the FPS limit to 60 if it runs to fast on your system.

Loony you're right, Squaresoft games usually suck on 1.6, 1.5.2 worked a lot better.
