enhanced search bar

    so like for example I wanted to search for a user instead of a message, put an option to search for user in the search bar. or if I wanted to search for a special message, instead of looking through lots of pages, you can add what part of the forum you want to search in like say the gaming lounge. I'm just saying add more options to the search bar so that it doesn't search through the whole forum giving you lots of pages to look through

    we are not modifying the forum code. If you want to search in a specific board then go into that board before using the search.

    The function to search for members is in the members list, but it's disabled on purpose as we have 1.7 million members and SMF cannot write a search function to save if their servers depended on it, which means a single member search will take about a minute and totally kill the server.

    What Seph says is true. Having around 1.7 Million members will take a long time since SMF has to search them all for the information you entered.

    ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!?!?!? 1.7 MILLION?!?!?!?!?!? I thought it was just like 5,000 users.

    well that's where you're wrong. you only have 1.6 million users. that's average. 1.7 would be like server overflow

    1.697.237 divided by a million and rounded to 1 decimal place is 1.7. Learn some maths. Also your definition of average is completely wrong as well.

    The RomUlation servers can also handle 1.7 million users if they can handle 1.697 million.
