    Like when you patch a Japanese game to English? In that case no, it won't harm your system.

    Patched ROMs typically don't hurt your system. you have to worry more about the data getting corrupted. Like a save file can get corrupted if you're not careful. But the only games I have patched are Soma Bringer and Ragnarok Online. And they both work just fine.
