After reading an article on GBAtemp, I thought I would look into securing my Internet connection from the sly bastards in the FBI and similar. So, encrypting... How is it done?
VPN = virtual private network, SSH = secure shell. Tunnels need two ends, one of which is your computer, and the other needs to be a server somewhere. Once traffic leaves the tunnel at the server end, it will not be encrypted.
Alrighty. Does it have to end at a special server? Or can it be, like a 000webhost one? (the server aspect, not the site).
it has to be a VPN server. so either you rent a VPN server from a company, or you rent a dedicated server and set it up for VPN. SSH tunnels would need to end with either a dedicated server or in some cases a VPS. A standard web hosting account will not work. Additionally you probably don't want the server to be located in the US in your case.
that seems to be a list of free VPN providers. While free would probably work, bear in mind that you get what you pay for. Also make sure to read the terms and conditions carefully, not all VPN services take privacy seriously.
Say I would want to rent. How expensive would be a server? Located in Australia or some other weak-as piracy laws. Roger. That for both free and non-free servers?
depends on the specs, unfortunately they cost more outside the US. yes for both, but even more so for free.
