I don't know any other people here on RomUlation aside from anand & me who try out these kinds of game hacks, but I just want to ask if any of you who do too if you encountered an opcode error on Super Mario Land that has been colour edit hacked on VisualBoy Advance that caused the game to crash at random points?

I just saw on RHDN (ROMHackingDotNet) this new utility that lets you do crazy stuff on Super Mario Land 2, but as it's a game editing tool I didn't really got into it that much. Then I saw a similar colour edit hack which was a patch file for Super Mario Land 1 that basically puts colour to the game. So I tried it & did a quick speed run on the game, & I got to say though this colour hack was pretty good. Anyway, at the very last level (4-3) the game encountered an opcode error that caused the game to crash so I had to close the application. Good thing though as I used save states. So I re-launched VBA then reloaded the game & when I continued from where I was before the game crashed, I was able to get past it so I guess it was just some random bug the hack did to the game.

Oh & since it didn't mess with the game that much & crippled gameplay this doesn't technically qualify as a "help" querry, just asking if anyone else encountered it.

Err.. nevermind just got to read the readme file for the patch from RHDN & yeah it's a known issue, my bad :-[

Hmm, haven't tried that one. I usually get opcode errors on badly coded DS homebrew demos I've tried from various sources, so it's the patch which is bad at parts.
