I'm trying to format my blank DVD-RW in my Windows 7 laptop but the format could not get completed. Does anybody know how to format so I can put the contents of the ISO in the DVD?

If you're trying to burn an ISO game file, then I wouldn't burn it to a DVD-RW. It won't work on the console at all.

he might not be wanting to use it on a console, i burned a windows 7 disk onto one, and it worked perfectly.....

Well, I inserted the dvd and double clicked the drive and it asked me if I would like it to act as a USB or write files on it permanently. I chose to use it as a USB but the format could not be completed (There was no progress) then I tried the other option and it's still the same. If I try to paste some files to it, the dvd would be ejected immediately saying that my DVD might be a defect.

I tried unchecking the quick format and nothing. I downloaded SwiftDisk Burning Wizard 2.3 and still fail.

    Try using ImgBurn.

hmmm...now that IS odd...good brand to.......here's an idea....when you go to "computer", right-click on the disk, and click format....then do a quick format, and see if it will work, i believe you wanna format it as NTFS to use it like a USB drive....so try that, and reply with your results...

if windows 7 didn't set it to a specific type properly, it's unusable until formatted....

I used Imgburn just a while ago but didn't help. My problem right now is trying to format the DVD.

Now it won't let me check quick format so I can't do it.

Maybe you should just hit erase disc? If that's an option instead of just formatting? Or even just overwriting it with the ISO file.

well....if there's data on it, and you overwrite it with the ISO, there's bound to be other stuff on it, which could corrupt the usage of the ISO....but it sounds like it is a corrupt DVD....do you have any other DVD's to try it with?

I'm erasing it right now (even if there is nothing in it at all). I was able to format it afterwards unlike my previous attempts but I 'll see if I can write anything on it other than the ISO.

Still experiencing some problems but I'll see what I can do, thanks for the help.

you dont format optical discs... unless you're using packet writing software which is crap.

open your burning software and click erase, then burn the image.

I opened my NTI Media Maker 8 and clicked erase but it spits out the DVD-RW before it could be finished.

Just go buy a new stack of DVD-Rs (not RW)
    Use IMGBurn, and try again.

Yeah, I think I abused it with too much erasing and writing failures anyway.
