So I'm playing Final Fantasy VII Advent Children on my laptop (1280 by 800 res). The picture looks kind of blurred though. I've played the same dual layer dvd on my 32" lcd tv with a component output dvd player and it looks amazing. I'm using media player classic. Is there a reason it looks like sh*t on my laptop?
i always think films look shit on laptop or any monitor for that matter part of it is to do with that your right in front of it if you move further away it will look better. also windows media player always looks crap in my opinion try a different program
He was using MPC (Media Player Classic) which is bundled with the K-Lite mega codec pack equity, not WMP (Windows Media Player). They're two entirely different media players.
is it an expensive laptop with very high priced parts? i too often found the quality of picture on a laptop on par [average] then compared to a lcd monitor or lcd tv. i believe the laptops monitor is probably built as an all-arounder monitor and it's probably why it looks grainy. i don't know if loony agrees but he'll probably come up with an idea as to why.
even the best HD tv looks grainy at a foot away. i've never seen any laptop or monitor for that matter not look at least somewhat grainy from normal usage distance
Off topic: That original apples and oranges thing is a really poor analogy. They're both fruit! Usually MPC is bundled with the K-Lite Codec Pack. WMP is proprietary shit.
It's prolly because your pc is trying to upscale the DVD to that resolution, and mebbe not doing the greatest job of it - native res for dvds are 720x480
