Could somebody please tell me why my DVD drive won't read disks I've burned? It'll read comercial disks just fine but when I stick in my own it ignores them! And before anybody asks yes all my drivers are up to date.

What kind of discs are you burning the stuff on to?
And can it read those same discs blank (can it detect them)?

Try running them through Daemon Tools.

is it a burner? if not it may not be capable of reading burned ones.

Well of course it's a burner! It's what I used to burn my disks in the first place. And yes it recognizes the disks, it just doesn't recognize the fact that they've got data on them.

If I could remember I would tell you and what does that have to do with anything?! These are all disks I used this drive to burn them with. That's why I can't figure out why it's not loading them.

The speed at which the data was burned can effect it's ability to be read.
If you were burning at extremely high speeds (say x100 for example), that may break the disc.

These are DVDs which you're burning on to, yeah? Just to make sure.

Try a different make of disc just to see whether it's a problem with your disc drive or the DVDs you're currently using.
Commercial DVDs work so it must be a problem with the discs. I would recommend burning the file on to a different make.
Or even try burning a different file to the discs. It could be a problem with the file itself if you haven't checked that out already.

I know the disks are OK because it's read them tons of times before. I just can't figure out why all of a sudden it's decided not to.

If it read them before, it could be a problem with the file. Try burning a previous file which you know should work on to one and test it.
If that doesn't work I'm not sure what the problem is.

Do the previously burnt discs still work?

I'd do that little test except for one thing, I'm out of blanks right now. Oh well, thanx anyway.

just so you know, best easy software to burn/copy cause that may be your prob as well:
DVDFab for DVD to DVD burning or copying
ImgBurn or PowerISO to Burn/Copy other kinds of data.
