Ok, i search the net and all the answers where about the same thing. I had my laptop modified a few months ago cause it only has a cd reader, meaning no writing and reading to dvds and even cdr-no writing. So i had it modified to a combo drive ( there was no stock of dvd multi at that time ) and it worked for a while. But i recently reformatted my laptop but now i can't use my dvd drive for reading the dvd's. it reads/writes cds but do not read dvd's. Its name is TEAC DW-224E-C. Does anybody has this combo drive and has the solution for it?
My first laptop had a CD/DVD combi and after a couple of years one of the lasers died so it could only read DVDs. I eventually replaced it with a DVD-CDRW drive, but in the mean time I tried a CD-ROM drive and another combi that had lost the DVD laser. It seems common in combi drives.
so, the problem could be the optical drive? ah... what a shame, cause i was planning to upload a data and send it to my uncle in the US, and its a dvd. um, aside from the reason: lens, is the driver of the device affects it also? Cause i think it still works for the dvd but i dont have the driver, or is the optical drive auto-configures the driver?
