Does anyone know what DVD burning software I should use? I just noticed that my hard drive is full but I can't burn some of my movies off it cause nero is being retarded.

    NOT NERO!

I prefer something called "img burn".
    (IT'S FREE!)

It allows better disc speed control and rips games-plus it re-directs your clicks if you try to burn the wrong file-as well as being just as or easy to burn with-all the ps2 games and movies I did work well.

And I suggest ethier compressing those files with "7zip" or getting an externmal hard drive.

I have a 1TB verbutium and 500GB western digital for games and rubbish.

I have an external it's just really dodgy... Lol, it drops out a lot. I think it's my USB slot more than the harddrive

    WHat brand?

I had an LG external and the supplied cable kept popping out-luckily I also had one that I originally used for one of those multi card readers.

Which I used o my psp-long story short I used the lg for the psp and the one I used on my psp on the LG.
It's a good drive-just what it came with was dodgy-shape meant it was flat agasin't it and needed to be perfectly still or else it would pop out.

I use Nero because it comes with the DVD-ROM itself. ;D

Nero was too resource hungry for my liking.I use cdburnerxp/img burn and convertxtodvd3 for movies.

For movies,Nero took 3 hours to recode and burn a movie.Sometimes it would get to about 2 minutes short of that and then hit you with a "error".

After switching to Convertxtodvd Ive not had any errors and an "800mb" movie takes about 1 hour to create a playable Dvd.

Note:-I am recommending a paid for product in comparison to another mentioned "paid for" product.

    Same here.

Now I use img burn instead, img burn is far better.

As for your external drive mesing up, get someone to check the usb ports (or open the pc up and check to see) or get a new one if it's the usb plug it's self.

Img burns has never failed me, except if I use my blue ray drive to record a dvd movie...only my external dvd drive reads them right (weird..)

I generally use imgburn, but on occasion I use Sony DVD Architect (for burning video DVDs) or NTI CD/DVD maker. My main gripe about nero, aside from all the bloat it has these days, is their hardware lockouts. I've had two optical drives for years, and I remember a while back I had a DVD writer and a CD writer (different models to the ones I have now). Both came with a bundled copy of nero. Neither version of nero supported the other drive and it wouldnt let me have both versions installed at once, so it was effectively forcing me to choose only one drive and leave the other unusable.
