Dumb Question - WiFi on ROMs

I just overheard that you can't connect to Nintendo WiFi Connection with a ROM (On a flashcart, of course, obviously you can't from an emulator) and I was fairly certain he was wrong, but then I realized I never actually tried to do it. I can't test myself atm because I do not have access to a wireless point, so is this true? I'm mostly concerned about the Pokemon games if it's game-specific.

there are some that have i belive acekard is one of those, otherwise no one with flashcard can connect to the pokewalker, as i've been told it uses infrared rather than wi-fi or bluetooth

No. No flashcard has infrared. No DS card has infrared either (how in the hell would it get connected if it's sealed?).

Wifi works fine here. Dad got our router unsecured today, and it works fine. Wifi on homebrew works fine too (tried DS2Tools and a dumper).

No. Acekard doesn't have infrared, DSTWO doesn't have infrared, any R4 (clone) doesn't have infrared, etc.

Hm. I retreat that statement then.

But no flashcard has infrared, that's for sure.

Absolutely no flash cart has the ability to use IR, regardless of what you hear or are told.
