I'm considering getting into the Advance Wars series, and I wanted to know which one would be better to start off with: Dual Strike or Days of Ruin?

    Thanks in advance.

The only one I played was Days of Ruin, and I´m starting on Dual Strike. I think they are both enjoyable so why not play both???

I can't play multiple games at once, I get distracted. But hey, I'll play Dual Strike first, I guess.

Honestly comparing review scores is almost moot to me because in a certain time frame x game would've been great, whereas it get a little worse over time. Or a good game on a new console gets a huge amount of praise and high reviews scores mostly because it's a good launch title, whereas in comparison if it came out later in the console's life it would've gotten a lower score.

    I preferred Days Of Ruin.

Days of Ruin has more balance. Tanks and Mechs can now fight MDs and such... Great fun using Battleships... And totally different CO system, but works extremely well (not counting Caulder).
Dual Strike is great for massive customization fun. Or I dunno, I never got far enough to find out more.
Take your pick. I stuck with Days of Ruin, BTW.

I suck at the game, but I'm really enjoying it. If Days of Ruin lets you take out those goddamn MD Tanks, I'll be very happy.

MD Tanks are slightly easier to get rid of in Days of Ruin, but there are counters in Dual Strike. Artillery with a shield of infantry is very useful, especially in the early campaign stages where you can't even deploy all the units yet (I'm assuming you're playing campaign so far)

Yeah, I am playing campaign. I just finished the mission where Black Hole introduces 2 COs in one battle, and I did it while watching Maury. The Neo (or whatever they're called) Tanks aren't that good compared to MD Tanks. D:

I preferred Days of Ruin, myself.

I preferred Duel Strike. It has better characters and better gameplay mechanics IMO. Also, the graphics for DoR are horrible.

They're faster and have a bit more firepower, but the AI uses them badly.

    Also, I prefer Dual Strike.

Not worth the money they cost.

Speaking of overexpensive troops, fighter planes...

It depends on the circumstances, but yeah. The stronger units are generally harder to make cost effective.

Days of Ruins is better at making the units priced fairly.

Well, then I'll have to hurry up and finish Dual Strike. :p

How about starting with Advance Wars on the GBA? Or if you can't get a cartridge, use an emulator.

    This is a viable option.
Though personally, as I already know what's in store for me, I'd skip the 1st Advance Wars game on the GBA, and go straight to Black Hole Rising. Campaign Mode in BHR wins by a long shot. Plus, a bit more content.

Well, seeing how BHR and every other game is a continuation to Advance Wars, I would suggest playing Advance Wars first because it introduces the characters. Otherwise, you'll probably find every game to have a disjunct story.
