I am currently playing through Soul Silver again and I have an incredible amount of lag. I dunno how I could fix the settings to allow the game to run smoother. I am using DSmuME 0.99 x 86 on a laptop that has 1.7ghz with 4GB of Ram.
    3D settings:
Soft Ras with both Edge Marking and Fog off.

    Sound:
Interpolation set at none with the buffer size at 5000.

    Emulation settings:
I have "use external bios" unchecked.

I don't know what else to set for the emulator.

1.7ghz is very slow, and I'm guessing its a mobile processor (i.e laptop/netbook)?

There might not be a whole lot you can do.

Try changing Display Method to DirectDraw SW and uncheck Limit framerate under Frame Skip.

sw rendering is likely to be even slower.

Huh? On my DeSmuME SW rendering is faster than HW rendering.

SW rendering makes the host CPU do all the graphics work in addition to the CPU emulation rather than offloading the graphics onto the specialised hardware on the graphics card.

Well, I played around with the setting some more and then changed the display as well, but it still didn't work out that well. Thanks anyway, though. I might as well play when I get home.
