Hi all, Being a relative novice to all this, can you help? We have DSI XL with an AceKard 2i, as of late for some reason it's stopped loading most games. A game can be selected from the list and it starts to load i.e. Mariokart initial screen loads with the Nintendo logo then it disappears to leave a blank display or on loading some other games it will state that there isn't a card in the slot or card could not be found. Then some other games can be played no problem. I've tried it another DSI XL and it all works fine. Any thoughts? would it be a dodgy slot do you think? :-\ Any advice or further checks I could do would be appreciated Dave
Hrmmm... have you tried the "paper" trick? It helps mine keep the pins connected properly on my DSi. [I use an AceKard2i as well] Also you could try reformatting the Micro SD card. In case of some data fragmentation causing issues or whatever. owo
Latest update. I have retried it another DSI XL and it doesn't work, same thing again just a blank screen after initial game loading. A mate tried his R4 card in the DSI XL and it worked ok. If I was to get an R4 card which one would I go for considering I already have the SD card as I need a cart for the DSI XL I've just bought my daughter. I've asked the question here before regarding best cart and the AceKard was the better choice over R4 but now this brings it all into question. I've got R4 cards in DSI Lites and had no problems at all. any advice welcome
When you say system update what do you mean by this? The DSI is a V 1.4.1E and I've just updated the kart using AKAIO.1.8.7-2 and ak2ifw update 3ds21 DSi143.nds. Is this the incorrect firmware now? Restarted and tried to load a game and same thing happens. I've formatted the SD card in FAT32 and loaded everything back on and now the DSI doesn't even see the kart Any idea where I've gone wrong? Post Merge: [time]1313349405[/time] I'm struggling with this now. I've reverted to AKAIO.1.8.7 and ak2ifw update 141 DSi.nds. Still not working I think I used the wrong firmware on the kart for the DSi firmware 1.4.1????? Could I have continued to use AKAIO.1.8.7-2 and ak2ifw update 3ds21 DSi143.nds. without any problems. A steep learning curve for me all this but I do need help from you experts on here!! :-[
Depends on the R4. I can name three with ongoing support from the excellent Wood kernel, and at least one of them works on the latest DSi and 3DS firmwares.
If anybody ever asked for the proper help, there are people (such as myself) that can point them towards the exact info they need to spend their money correctly. Most people seem to think that the R4 with the longest or most technical sounding title is the best though. For example, this one from this site is perfectly acceptable as it works all the way up to DSi v1.4.3, 3DS v2.0.0.afdsafs (I don't keep up with the 3DS firmware numbers so well), and has perfect compatibility with what is out there (outside of the small problems that every cart seems to have every now and again). The name of the cart is a bit misleading though, but it helps to differentiate that it is only that R4i Gold cart, no other ones out there.
But they don't ask for help, they just buy an R4 at random and more often than not end up with a shit one, that in some cases nobody here has even heard of before. There are so many shit clones and fakes, a lot of which have extremely similar names (deliberately) that the safest option is just to avoid anything with the designation 'R4' completely.
I tend to recommend the more well known, individual carts anyways. Most of time, I just leave it at either an Acekard2i or a Supercard DSTwo, depending on budget and desired features. It's less confusing that way for everybody involved.
