Im not sure what to get. A DSi or a DS Lite. The only thing I care about is playing DS roms I don't care about the DSi's cameras or music playing abilities. I wont be playing GBA games either so that also doesn't matter.

I have an Acekard 2i coming my way in the mail, and should be here in around a week or 2.

    Question:

If I do get a DSi, will the acekard 2i pretty much work exactly like it would on a DS Lite (assuming I updated the card with the DSi's 1.4 fix thing or whatever)?

Is the DSi's firmware updates annoying? Do they constantly remind you to update your DSi?

Yes, it will work the same. To update to the internal loader which bypasses 1.4 however, you have to update on a DS/Lite or a DSi not on 1.4. You might as well get a DS Lite.

You might as well get a DS Lite if that's all you're going to do... save some money at the same time

The DS Lite has always been great so just keep that. The DSi has updates that include piracy protections against the flashcards so if you do get a DSi, then be careful of updating.

get both.I got a dsi because I wanted dsiware and the bigger screen, but overall a NDSL is better because of the slot-2 capability.

I was in your same situation when I wanted to upgrade from my DS phat. So I compared the DSi to the DSL, this was around when the DSi just just being released and before I knew about flashcarts. I found that the DSL has a significantly longer battery life, which to me was all the information I needed to make my decision. For me, I play my DSL all the time, currently working on M&L BIS and KH 358/2 just as a fyi, using an AK 2i running the AKAIO 1.5 firmware. I needed a handheld that would stand up for hours of game play before needing a charge. The only one that can provide this necessity is the DSL. Best of luck,

DS Lite is the way to go. I sell them as a bundle package to all the mums from school (DS console & flash card), they cancelled all there lay-bys once i told them i sold them and they have all saved money, which as parents we all try to do.... good luck

i would go with a dsl because it can do almost everyting that the dsi can, play music, go on the interwebs etc

Get Lite. The Dsi is $100 more expensive, and it's not worth it. Sure there are upgrades, but not worth paying for. Another thing is they took out the gba slot, just to make it a few grams lighter, as if anyone can't hold something less than a kilo.

Gba games won't work on dsi..and getting certain flash cards to work is a pain if you update the firmware...

I'd say (if you got the cash) get both...

I have 1 of each ds system (dsphat, lite and dsi-well 2 dslites if you count the rare dark blue one from japan which my brother broke..).

But dslite would be better choice-besides-the dsi exclusives would only be the use of camera or the extra ram-not much really.
