very few, and non downloadable on the DS. the few that do exist masquerade as commercial game roms.

Yeah there will be a few viruses around such as the N5 firmware, as long as you download homebrew etc. from their official sites and other trusted sites, you'll be fine.

can you use a virus scan to find out if the file is infected?

most likely not. the architecture of an NDS is substantially different to that of a PC, so the PC would not be able to recognise the file as executable or interpret the code.

so theres no way to find out if a rom or homebwre has a ds virus?

Yeah...run it. Or use an emulator to test it

you need to chill out man. your not going to get anything major ever. as long as you have a firewall and anti virus like avg you'll be fine. the worst i have ever got was a nasty piece of spyware but i deserved that for looking at dirty porn ;D

no. A PC cannot run DS code, it would screw up the emulator, but would not be permanent.

the reason I'm so paranoid of viruses is because i cant get rid of them they keep coming back and i end up having to get a new computer every time, and i have no firewall for some reason my school dissent like firewalls ???

Why would you get a new computer after getting a stubborn virus? I once got a annoying virus that always told me every hour or so it buy the "program" for a cheap price. After using AVG, it got removed. Otherwise you can use System Restore. Anyways, if you got a game or homebrew and it had a virus, it wouldn't affect your computer as said above, but it would probably screw up your emulator so you can always download another or just copy it somewhere.

reformatting will get rid of any virus, and tell your school they're stupid. My uni wont let you on their network without a firewall.

yeah there are stupid for disabling the firewall and when my virus keeps coming back(i cant do any thing with the restesty or format may hard drive or system restore)they just send me a new one, it would probably be both essayer and cheaper for them just to enable the firewall.
