About two weeks ago the top screen of my DS started to flicker. Sometimes when I fold the screen, or move it, or when I apply pressure to the top of the DS the screen flickers into a cascade of incoherent colors and blocks the screen. Any reason why this happened? I've been taking EXTREMELY good care of my DS so I don't know why all of a sudden it has an internal problem. Can it be repaired at any game shop? I can't send it to Nintendo, the warranty expired.
^-^ http://forum.romulation.net/index.php?topic=36781.msg666363#msg666363 ^-^ i bought a dsi to resolve my problem, but you can fix it yourself. good luck! ^-^
Nothing lasts forever, but keep in mind there is a very thin ribbon in the hinge the runs to the upper screen and most it could be wearing down from opening and shutting the DS or its coming loose from the top screen itself, thirdly the top screen may be faulty as you said it seems to worsen pushing around on it and closing the DS Yes some game shops can repair it if they offer such service. But factor in if its worth repairing or best to buy another one, or opt for a upgrade be it the DSi or DSi XL.
There is definitely something wrong with your hinge in some way. If you can, I would suggest picking up a used DSlite for cheap from somewhere. This way if you have a flash cart, it will continue to work for you. Plus, a DSi is a complete waste if you want any use of a Slot-2.
i see, but my ds lite suffered from the flickering top screen after the tiny hinge crack and the crack just got worse. but is it ds lite or ds phat? if you own a ds phat, this might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EFJAE4WBAQ
