right i need help if you please yesterday i noticed a white line on the top screen of my DS, its right at the bottom of the screen and it flickers, then later on i noticed a like a little further up, its thinner but it also flickers today the screen has started to go jumpy, sometimes its very jumpy and other times not so much anyone had that problem or have an idea of what it is? would getting a new top screen fix it? thanks in advance
Try downloading this homebrew application from here and run the Stuck Pixels portion of the application. If that doesn't work, get it looked at by a professional.
Yes. Extract it like you would with a ROM, put the .nds file anywhere onto your MicroSD, and run from the 'Game' menu.
Sounds like you need to take it to a local gameshop and see if they do repair work on NDS and see if they can tell you what is up, but I have a question, do you have the problem if your R4 card is not in the system (take out the card and turn it on as if your going to change the DS settings for example the time and date) reason I ask is because you didn't state it before hand, and if its still showing the "line(s)" then its a problem with the DS screen also try moving the top screen housing left and right and see if it flickers or any changes in the lines to see if it gets better or worse.
its the same even if the R4 card isnt in the slot even if theres a proper game in it too sometimes if i shut the DS while its still on the jumpy screen will stop for a short while but the lines are still there, we are thinking its the screen or the ribbon cable but since the cable is attached to the screen we bought a whole new screen
The ribbon cable may be the problem than the screen seeing that it runs down and curls inside the hinge of the DS then runs to the board behind the touch screen and it may have gotten pinched or damaged from the hinge, more so if its been slammed shut numerous times or when opened to far back past the first "click" you hear when you first opened it, that can cause a bit of stress and may have pulled out of place just enough to flicker the screen.
