Dragon Quest IX Help

    Stuck in the first town. I found the ring, but can't find out what to do next. I've talked to each NPC but can't leave town... Any help? I can't read Japanese, although I found a translation of the menus and that helps. This game is beautiful.

    I believe it is the Anti-piracy protection. I'm unsure of when it occurs, I haven't been active in the cheat-team lately. What are you using to play it?
