  1. i have mentioned that i am starting a gamer girl web site and for (site finally came back up yesterday) well i need tons of space for downloads. is there a way that i can link my files directly off my hard drives from home. i might be a little nieve but i need about 500 gigs but i have that already here at home and since i don't have money falling out of my bumm i figured its a good question. is that what server computers are for if so i should save up for it and would still need to know how to do this. i wanna have a really good site and give people what they want and i know the way to do that is to have tons of downloadable content. but i know there has to be a better way to do this without spending like $1000 a month for space for my files to just sit. And just to be clear no i am not leaching off the site i have done my own work on finding games. plus i am having other content on there other then just that like programs movies and music.

You can't link stuff off your harddrive without setting up a server first, doing so requires knowledge about security and such, I really wouldn't advice that, plus, with that much content you'd want to be able to provide a good speed, your home connection might not be the best for that. (some ISP's even have a clause in the ToS that says you can't use your connection for a home server)

If I were you I'd start out small, put up some good unique content instead of the whole lot of it, if you have some videos and or music then put it up on youtube or free hosts such as media fire or zshare. You don't want to get a big server before you start making money off of your site.

also if you see a 'really good' offer for hosting, like several hundred GBs for under $20, AVOID IT. There is a reason why its under $20, and trust me, you don't want to find out what it is.

  4. well the movies i have are full legth movies not little clips of stupid stuff (not say there all stupid). and as for my isp i have the same isp that most the businesses around here have. so i guess i just need to know how to set up a server

Are you sure you want to serve full length movies? That's not really done these days except via torrents.

  6. yeah in had set up an account with drivehq to later find out after i did all the work to put my stuff in zip folders and upload them that i couldn't even link to it for download, i would have to pay to publish the folder that has the files i wanted to link to. i thought it was a good deal when i say that it was 1gig for free then found out later i can't use it for what i wanted to use it for

  7. yeah i have no problem with it. and there not bootlegs either, and there dvd quality and avi format
