What browser are you using? Do you have javascript and cookies and all that enabled?

sounds like the IE 'Are you sure you want to download this file?' annoyance

The site works fine in Internet Explorer for me.

Yes, but some people have a problem with IE blocking the download, the problem is that IE starts it, and then cancel it, if the user would then like to download it then it starts it AGAIN. Once the data has left our server then we can't track it, the structure of the internet limits us.

So a user don't understand why the points were deducted because they didn't download anything, but to us it looks like they did. If IE were to simply pause the download and then start or stop it once a user had made a decision then we would have far last problems.

Hmm... in Firefox I can pause the download for a few seconds and resume again without losing any stuff I've already partially downloaded. :)

That's because firefox pauses it, not stops it.
A resume download won't cost you point either, we can detect which downloads are resumes and which ones aren't.

I always thought Internet Explorer paused it too, guess not. ;)

I don't know if it does. I just know that the very first time some users try to download from here they get the download blocked with IE asking. "IE blocked a download, click here to allow it blablabla" And then they lose points, but really we can't help that.

IE simply stores 'partial' files in the temporary directory. It normally doesn't pause a download - if you're lucky and you get disconnected in the midst of the download, IE will pick up where it left off from the temporary file. Unfortunately, this happens RARELY.

Just use Firefox - it just saves you a lot of hassle.
