10KB/s is fast for dial up.

I'm using a broadband and I'm also at asia,It only take 3-4 hours to download a rom that below 80mb..
But I prefer to download it from cyber cafe and It only take 20-30 minutes to download one rom which is below >100mb from this websites :)

Well, broadband is much more slower than dial-up,and its speed changed dramatically when you use it,and it all depend on the weather, which you can get better speed during the day.

phew, that gave me a scare.

if it takes you three-four hours for a ROM, then you might have dial-up, meganova.

but the speed aren't fixed right?

Broadband speeds are usually fixed. You pay more for faster connections. 256kbit, 1mbit, 3mbit, 5mbit, 10mbit, 20mbit, etc.

Dialup is 56kbit max. Usually only connects 28.8-52kbit depending on the quality of the phone lines in your area. Broadband shouldn't be cheaper than Dial-up, unless you have some very crappy dial-up providers. Dial-up is a fraction of the cost of broadband, sometimes almost free (and some do offer it for free).

3-4 hours to download a 100mb rom for me takes like 10 mins.

And by the way broadband is much faster than dial up.

    And more expensive....
