I'd like to play downloaded games on my nds lite but I'm not sure where to start. I know I have to buy a case thing for micro sd and install some kind of firmware, depending on the case. Is there anything else I need to know? I've been thinking about buying this card http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.19236 but I'd like to find out if there are better one's out there, game and price wise. ~Thanks!
Check on Acekard2i on the same site.Youll need one of those,a card reader(for attaching you microsd card to your pc) and a microsd/hc card.Itll take 2-3 weeks for delivery from them. Then when get your stuff, come back on here and someone will tell you where to get AKAIO firmware and how to set it up... Between now and then, you can still download DS roms and store them on your pc to save time when your cart comes.
Is there a difference between the R4 and Acekard 2i? I saw an Acekard 2 that came with the usb microsd card reader like the R4 I was looking at has but it's not a 2i. I'd really like a card that's still updating firmware since I'd like to get a nds game that just came out as soon as I can find it. Is there much difference in quality when playing games like this as opposed to buying the game?
Don't get an R4. They are outdated and 99.999999999999% of them out there are cheap clones. I have an AceKard. You can get them here: http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catalog/AceKard-mf-15.html If you don't allready have a microSD card, you can get it with one packaged in from there.
N5 is a poor quality clone of the original R4. It is NOT a good start. The best cards for the original DS/DS lite (NOT DSi) are acekard2, EDGE and CycloDS Evolution.
Once you got your card (I DO advise an acekard 2.i which works on all ds systems) read this. https://www.romulation.org/forum/index.php?topic=1462.0 It helped me somewhat, but if you get stuck feel free to ask
The origional R4 was good when it was new. It didn't support cards bigger than 2GB and quite a few new games don't work with it. All of the clones just went downhill. I'd be about as encouraged to buy any R4/clone on the market as I would be by this one eBay auction for a "100% genuine DSTT NOT A CLONE!" auction I saw. The seller was from Hong Kong I've read LOADS of bad things about clones of differant flash carts. You'd want to stay away from clones...
I'm definitely going with an Acekard 2 or 2i now after reading a lot of stuff about it vs. R4 and others. It's a couple bucks more but worth if it's much better than the r4 I was going for originally. $10.44 for Acekard 2 and a usb card reader plus free shipping. I'd go with a 2i if they had a bundle with the usb reader... but I don't think I'll ever get a dsi so yea. Only problem is free shipping = long shipping time especially with the holidays... @macgeek417 They haven't made clones for the Acekard have they? Or named something crappy with the same name as Acekard?
Not that I know of, except some are R4 clones labled "AceKard". Where are you planning on getting it from? ConsoleSource sells legit ones - my brother got his from there and it's a real AceKard.
R4i isn't total crap. I have one (Gold Version) and can run everything on it except Final Fantasy 3 (idk freezes after first dungeon). Considering it can run akmenu, no problem really exists. It's pretty decent. Granted, the acekard2i is better, but the supercard for dsi is freaking god with gba emulation on slot-1.
It's a cheap, made in china (what isn't?), R4 clone, therefore it's pretty much crap. But now that I think about it, from what i've read, the SoperCard DStwo is the GOD of ds flash carts. Yaaaay, GBA emulation! IIRC, it has a Super Nintendo Entertainment System emulator, I wonder if it emulates the add-on chip thingys...
