I've had DosBox for a long time now so I can keep playing my old games. Now I've seen it where people have made their own .exe files so all you have to do is click that instead of going through all that directory setup junk! Could somebody please tell me how that's done, or at least point me in the direction of a tutorial? I've looked and haven't found one.
Create a new shortcut to the DosBox .exe file, or copy the one created when you installed doxbox. Edit the properties of the shortcut. At the end of the "Target" line, add, in quotes, the full path of the main game executable you wish to launch.
Another way would be to use D-Fend Reloaded This is a king of GUI for DOS-Box, which lets you play all configured games from a list. Heres the link to the english page: http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/index.html?lang=en
You want to hear something crazy? After I wrote my post I thought I'd give Google just ONE MORE TRY! Guess what? ;v) I found what you said in a wiki somewhere! ;v) This is what the target looks like for The Castle of Dr. Brain. E:\Games\DOSBox\DOSBox.exe "E:\Games\Castle of Dr. Brain\BRAIN.exe" Oh, I tried that D-Fend front end gadget and I thought I was going to go bald for snatching my hair out try to make sense out of it! OMG
I found it there too, but I also had it on a make shift readme file I had made for a friend when I made him a copy of Dosbox with some games on CD, but yes Wiki is where it originally came from...guess I should have stated that.
Of course since I've gotten one problem solved another one has to pop up! I'd like to be able to have all my games go full screen as soon as they're run. Now I googled all over the place and everything I found said go edit my config file. So I just thought OK, easy enough. I go to open my DosBox folder and guess what I DIDN'T find?! You guessed it, a config file! So now what?!
With D-Fend you can get all games to fullscreen. If the wizard of this prog is too complicated for you look here: http://www.myabandonware.com/howto/
