Is Sony thinking about a PS4. No doubt. Is the current PS4 rumor based on a job posting really talking about the PS4 .. of course not and I will tell you why. As the hardware matures and components change, software needs to be engineered and re-engineered to work with newer chipsets and other requirements that might affect the backwards compatibility of the current generations software. Be sure that software that was in the original PS2 was re-engineered in subsequent versions. The PS3 will undergo the same process. What this bodes well for is software that might someday make PS2 compatibility a reality on current and future PS3s that may lack the hardware to do the job. So the current rumor angle is not looking at the most obvious scenario. That of a future full of backwards compat and cross compat. --Ministry of Tech
ps4 will not be out for a long long time maybe 10 years+ look at the gap between ps2 and 3. not only that but it is on blu-ray which means the games they have alot of space to work with in the future. so it will far out live any other console on the market running only dvd and dvd dual layer
there will not be a ps4 for like 10 years or so. sony said it themselves, that their ps3 system is good for more then the typical 5-6 year term. but i doubt that they [sony] will keep it for more then 5-6 years as it will age, especially since more and more development into dx10+ and physics is now being tested by developers and the hardware [video cards] being able to run dx10 games [geforce 9000 series being released this year]. i'm also not talking about graphics only, but also computing power and memory, as well as media formats [cd's, dvd's, etc....]. ps4, what are they going to do different then microsoft's xbox 360 and their ps3 system??!! remember, to follow nintendo would mean that sony failed and nintendo succeeds. also, how much would it be this time when they release it [ps2, 300, ps3, 500 [the cheapest model], ps4, 700???]?? [seems like it goes up 200 for every system, so imagine ps5, $900] btw, you should know that the mock up design of that ps4 will never pass as it only lets users place it vertically. i think most companies now a days make it a two way choice for the consumers to have it placed vertically or horizontally.
lol I laugh at anyone who thinks they can comprehend a PS4 or any other game system in 10+ years. 10 years is a massive leap in technology, in ten years time even a PS4 would be obsolete. Plus considering most technology are made from synthetic plastics which require oil, I would'nt bet on enough reserves to produce your 'PS4'.
the playstation official magazine in portugal declared that sony already knows how the ps6 will be. i'm almost sure ps4 will come out in about 8-10 years.
PS4? I think that won't be for a long time, even then, aside from the obvious upgrades (graphical, memory, etc), what else would Sony do to improve their products?
although sony has said to be thinking about the ps4, there aren't many things to improve. only the power of the console. the rest has already been done.
PS4 huh? I'm still getting busy with my Missus PS3... (non dodgy way) but if they were thinking about ps4, they would probably wait a few years for ps3 to sell, more like 8. Heck, they might even make a new type of cd technology like Red-Ray (I don't know)
ps4 is a long way off not even anypoint of thinking about it your ps3 will wow the pants of of you over the next few years but a ps4 you can expect games with things like real looking water but to know what to expect watch the up and coming exclusive pc games
trust me its a long long way off at least 5 years. developers are only just realizing the potential of blu-ray watch out for you ps3 exclusive games as they will show you what your ps3 is made of. because games that are made for all formats have to be dummed down for the 360 as it only uses dual layer dvds (in other words it sucks). one game to watch for is the remake of FFVII as it should look just like the recent film IN GAME
The playstation 4 will come out in 4 to 6 years. BUT there will be many others consoles in the mean time. Ah I can't wait till technology reaches it perfect stage.
OK I just spent one hour nuking this topic from 7 pages to 1. That is what they did with PS2 right? Well how about PS3> Its still a bulky type, but it still looks cool. I gotta see the PS4 though!
Cool topic Almo. They're gonna do the same with what they did with the playstation 2, make a slim when people stop buying playstations 3,4.
i dont think a ps4 is gonna come out for a while, even though ps2 was a last gen system, it still sold out some of the next gen systems because its cheaper and some of the same games are playable but not-the-best graphics. it will be interesting till ps4 comes out
