The Nintendo DS uses 802.11b. You could try if you wanted.

Check the Nintendo DS site, it has a list of routers and tells you how well they do and the difficulty to set up wi-fi.
A few don't work at all with DS wi-fi BTW

cjdogger, only ones that use 802.11b are on there. So get routers that use that connection. Others wouldn't work.

802.11n can be backwards compatible with b/g providing it can operate on the 2.4ghz band (n can also use 5ghz, and generally does due to more available channels) However, getting a wireless n router is a bad idea as the standard is not yet ratified and could change, meaning you could potentially be left with equipment that is not compatible with the actual n standard when it becomes ratified. if this happens, you would need to replace it with an actual n router rather than a draft n (some say they can be upgraded to full n once the standard is ratified, but that is dependant on how much the standard actually changes between the current draft and the final standard).
