we used to run dial up back then but verizon offered dsl service in our area now so we switched.
the one thing we don't want now is the phone service as we don't often receive calls due to having cell phone services, not being at home all the time and we just don't bother picking up the phone to make calls and receive calls.

so we no longer want to have phone service, but do we need phone service to have the dsl service??
btw, i don't believe it's possible to get rid of the phone service as it maybe required by law to have one in case of an emergency.

also, does anyone know where i can get the cheapest service for home phone service in the nyc area??

you need an active phone line, and that implies a phone service, as I don't think you can have a line without a service.

Verizon offers a "naked" DSL service.

You need a physical line, but no phone service is needed.

Contact Verizon customer service, or DSLExtreme.com about "naked DSL"

If you do not have a current phone number/line with them, they will need your address.

Otherwise, you should be good to go.
