I hope this has nothing to do with "no CD cracks or warez" if a moderator thinks so, please delete immediately

Ive got a legit CD of 'the sims 2 nightlife' expansion pack and i want to lend it to my cousin who only has the core game installed. so my question is: can i lend him the disk and let him install it and then when he gives it back, can he still play on it without the expansion disk?
    Thanks

What I used to do with my friend is that we would each buy half of all of the expansions, and I ended with Open for Business at the time and he ended with Family Fun Stuff Pack or something like that. Then I bought Pets, and so I was able to install his and play off of the Pets one. This was before I learned you could download all of them, with keys, and cracks and not pay a cent...

But he will need whatever expansion he installed last (or the latest one on his computer). So you could install Nightlife, University and have him end with Open for Business and have him play off of OFB.

I've seen torrents with like 20+ expansion packs on it or something close to that...I need a better rig before I even bother going past IKEA or Apartments or whatever.

Depends. Read what I said again.
If you install using let's say University, and that's the latest expansion you put on it, then you need University to play, not the regular Sims 2 disc.

But, if you install Nightlife or even Open for Business (not sure whether Nightlife or University was first, so we'll go one more to make sure), then you'll need Open for Business to play.

For this scenario let's assume Nightlife was first in line, then University was released later.
    Sims 2 installed
    Nightlife installed
    ---
    Requires Nightlife to play

    Sims 2 installed
    Nightlife installed
    University installed
    ---
    Requires University to play

However, let's say you did this instead:
    Sims 2 installed
    University installed
then Nightlife installed (and assuming Nightlife was the first expansion released)
    ---
    University required to play.
