Well, I do. I can't stand games that use individual EXP gain. Where in a scenario of two or more party members, the member who get's the winning strike gets the exp. That is really bad because of a few factors. 1. Unbalanced Damage It happens all the time. You may accidentally get a critical hit or something of the sorts when you don't want to, resulting in the party member getting the EXP. 2. Computer Controlled Characters Characters who automatically attack for you (Like in FF XIII) are almost impossible to predict. They will always steal the kill and get the EXP. 3. Spells/Attacks which make a party member attack the monster unwantedly It happens only in a few games, where there's a rage meter of sorts. These always result in me being underleveled. Even worse, when you can't choose to go solo. It won't be ~that~ bad if you can control your party members, but even then, number 1 may occur. What's your opinion on this?
Don't have much games with that system...but tell me about it in MMORPG. I was playing ToP and I was killing this crab boss, whithered it down to a few hp left then some motherf***er random guy comes over and deliver the killing blow -.- he took all the exp and the item required to complete a quest(there's a system in the game where only the player that delivered the final blow can pickup the item) and I had to wait another half an hour for the boss to respawn -.-
Eternal Eyes has individual EXP. You can have your magical puppets be computer controlled or you can control them. Of course I control them, but they are pretty much equal in level, but with the different evolutions, some are better at magic or attack/defense than others.
It can be bad when the AI is as intelligent as a minifridge. And MMORPGs are far worse because of the kil stealing
cant happen in WoW. If you're grouped the exp is shared by all the group members, even if its not a group member that actually deals the kill, and in a solo situation its the person who lands the first strike on the mob that gets the exp/loot, regardless of who kills it.
If you hate that kind of character development system then you'll absolutely fall in love with the SaGa series *sarcasm*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SaGa_(series) Too lazy to actually read/summarize, but here's your answer. Responding to the topic, I actually haven't played any games like that, but I can see how that would be annoying.
...and this is why in team matches I don't worry about getting the kill, if I must I'll use a tank and blow them to dust. That said the games i play give assistance exp points, and I get plenty of them... As long as I get some, that's all that worries me.
In Disgaea it's near impossible to level the Cleric class because of this. Although, if I ever need a healer I just reincarnate one of my mages so they start off with some powerful attacking spells.
