Im getting fed up with this. This error first started happened about 2-3 years ago; i decided to work on this laptop to try and get it working a few days ago and i managed to get it started by plugging my monitor into the side and using that. When i start up the laptop its all while/black bars but once the windows logo shows up its all good.

As far as i know this error is a vista thing.

Oh nearly forgot, here's my specs:
    Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Bit
    Service Pack 1

    Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP Pavilion dv9205tx Notebook PC
    Processor: IntelĀ® Core(tm)2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz x2 (says there two of them)
    Ram: 2GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
Tell me if I missed anything

    Thanks in advance,
    AcroneSF

If you laptop shows at the start this weird stripes it can be nothing else than having an incorrect display driver installed or you graphic card has messed up .

Will appear that you have an HP Laptop? Ik have a Hp_Compaq laptop and by clicking start / all programs there is a recovery managar there to restore all my drivers, try that if you laptop has that .

But I am sure that your display driver is damaged or messed up

Wich Graphic card do you have ?

  3. Disable the aero visuals. It fixed it for me!

also try changing the windows theme to "windows classic"

he already said he had a geforce chip.

I would suggest updating to the latest graphics driver (if there isnt one on compaq's site, try the nvidia driver.) If that doesn't work then there may be a problem with the physical chip.

  5. Its probably something that the graphics card doesnt support well. Like loony said, update it :) Turning to classic mode helps alot with pc performance too. i recommend it

I'l just checked the nvidia site and it appeared that there was a newer driver of your graphic card wasn't working with windows vista , only XP ..

    Try these steps :
    1. Fully Remove The Nvidia driver ontho your PC , also remove some map's in your progam files with named Nvidia .
    2. http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_win7_64bit_179.48_beta.html
    Install this driver
    3. Hopefull this helps, if not your graphic card may be messed up :(

Looks like your graphics card has had it. It might be down to some solder coming loose. There's a method of correction using an oven, though I'm not sure how it would work on a laptop's kit.

That's a tutorial link. Though I would dry up every other possible source first.

you cant remove a graphics chip from a laptop (well in less than 1% of laptops you can). If its a hardware problem you're going to have to send it back to the manufacturer to be fixed.

Yea i realised. Oh well time for the next question; Whats a good gfx card for a laptop?

anything nvidia. ATi laptop chips suck ass. You'd need a whole new laptop though, since only the less than 1% I previously mentioned are upgradable (and only upgradable from a very limited range).

The speed is perfect, not lag or anything; just a stuffed graphics card
