Difference between R4's?

I switched from using R4 to ttds last year. There are some games I can't get to work on ttds and I'm trying to see if they would work on my old R4. But now there seem to be R4i, R4 gold, wood R4.. Are these all different kinds or are these just many ways of calling R4? My ds is ds lite and I seem to have a standard R4.

So here's the question: what R4 firmware should I get to update the card? :)

    Thank you in advance! ;)

The firmware specific for it. http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ So a regular R4 would be under the 'R4 DS' category.
