mac pros
-can run a multitude of apps at the same time and still function normally
-good for graphic design and other artsy things
-almost impossible to get a virus for mac
-easy to use
-look good
mac cons
-not a lot of games for mac
-can't run certain file types e.g. .exe
-people don't make a lot of emulators for it
-using the msn available for mac will slow it down
-expensive

xp pros
-CAN run a lot more apps
-cheaper
xp cons
-virus prone

vista pros
-?
vista cons
-everything that's wrong with xp and more

note: I'm not too knowledgable about microsoft software because I don't use it but the few times I have used it I got super pissed.

very little windows software will run on a mac, and there is very little software available for mac. Windows is perfectly capable of running multiple apps at the same time. mac OS is all about appearance, it looks good but thats about the only good thing about it.

I don't recommend a mac, no. At one time they were very good at the few things they did, but now they are no better than PCs and cost a lot more.

The only good thing about a mac is nothing. They are overpriced, don't run too well (at least my friend's), ARE prone to viruses just as much as windows, but there aren't too many for mac, i could list a lot more, but i won't. they do have fast usb transfer times!! They do look good.....that's about all i like about them.

XP - ok - i use tiny xp beast edition....but i only use windows for it's applications, not internet

Vista - ...it's ok.....but it's just not that great.....slow and high demands.

is it a good thing or a bad thing??i dont really know.It runs really well though, but i kinda like my vista laptop better.how do people make hybrid OSs??

A hybrid OS is a fusion of two or more OSes, normally made by using system files from both systems, and editing them. They could be good or bad, but normally, they are unreliable, unless they are developed by trusted programmers, or they have good ratings.

Mac is mostly for those people who focus on small businesses.
And programming, and GFX/SFX.
That's all my dad ever got outta it. And my mom. I don't like macs, need it simpler.
The only way if I have a mac if they make it simpler for me.
So I can run my .exe files and stuff...

Vista pros - As long is it is x64 bit with 4GB+ RAM, it works okay for me. Even then...
Easy to organize.
Looks good.
CHEAP
Vista cons - DONT GET ME STARTED.

XP pros - Simple, and easy for people to understand.
Runs many programs.
MUCH CHEAPER
XP cons - VERY virus prone.
No good 64 bit...
Less organized

Mac pros - Dual boot windows. (YES!)
Looks Cool.
Programmer friendly.
Mac cons - hard for normal people.
Little programs available.

yeah....i guess macs are hard to get used to if you immediately switch from windows...but i went immediately to linux when i got my desktop a couple of months ago and mac is so simple now!! too simple almost......that' why i like linux....more to figure out and stuff!!

windows is kind of easy to master, mac is a little harder (at times), but linux was ok......not too hard for me to get used to although i have always been a tech person.....so its just natural for me to know when something goes wrong with a computer (at times)!!

i think this still depends on what you are using it for.
for more use and software issues, use xp/windows
for design and style, get a Mac

expensive is debateable because if a product offers something that no other product offers, then it can charge you anything because there is no competition for that. so it is expensive because they offer something that is good, according to consumers, that no other product is offering, this is why it's expensive. but if no other product exists, then it isn't expensive because there are no substitutes for it. what are the substitutes for macs based on what macs offer? there isn't one. look at the iphone, what other phone offers the same type of features and abilities of the iphone? the answer is none.

take the wii. it is expensive to the hardcore because it is last generations hardware [low specs]. but to others, it is the most valueable console on the market as it is the only console that is to offer motion controller. motion controller as the new big thing.

first off..........macs offer the same features that i want in linux.....internet and security!
but i don't pay anything for linux.

so....i could spend as much as i bought my car, netbook, wii, desktop, psp, and some other assortments and it wouldn't be enough for a mac.

$200 for my car (got from cousin who went in navy...not crap), $200 for my wii, $45 for my desktop, $100 for my netbook, $0 for linux, $0 for my psp (got it for a trade!), and some other stuff.......all of this stuff to me is more valuable and worth more than one single mac!.....just depends on your perspectives and tastes i guess!

i don't mind having a slower computer! i got it for way less than a new one!! runs just as good too!

the wii is less than the rest though.........most of them anyways.........

Cut the quote down because it's not needed, and I disagree on the Virus Prone comment... It's the people using the computer who are virus prone, you have to remember the key thing with any computer. That does not have an Artificial Intelligence.
Computers are dumb and will only do what you tell them to
If you tell the system to download a virus, it will download a virus.

Its the other software that people load up with Xp(like Adobe/Office) etc that contain vulnerabilities-maybe thats what Mike is meaning.
You have to keep updating these things as they are playing catch-up to new viruses.Good antivirus software deals with most things without the need for user input, but the average user doesnt know what the AV flags up when they are "after" a torrent etc,so they just click on it and get the virus LOL

Windows itself contains a huge number of vulnerabilities, while mac contains relatively few, and linux even fewer (in the base OS). Additionally, these days virii are capable of spreading themselves and installing themselves through OS and application vulnerabilities.
