Re: AP Will Not Win, Stop Making AP Nintendo, You Lose!!

Well sometimes they know that they won't win. Eventually the AP will be hacked.
But then again some people are too impatient to wait for a patch and buy the game.
Also sometimes AP takes a while to crack.
Mario and Luigi Bowser's inside story took around 3 weeks to crack on all cards.
So a lot of people bought the game.

The most winning factor for me on AP stuff was Ubisoft tring so hard their DRM on Assasins Creed 2, getting people mad and stuff, until some team discovered a workaround that bypasses it one month after the game was released.

At first, Nintendo thought that, because of AP, they will ultimately win. But when they realized that they didn't, they thought that Anti-Piracy, although unable to stop us, can piss us off. They used AP as a hindrance or obstacle to make us become impatient and buy the darn game.

We hack stuff cause we don't have enough patience to adress Nintendo "nuisances", XD

The patch for Yu-gi-oh World championship 2010 doesn't work for my flash card well so still makes it impossible to play my game...
I still am debating getting the real game... (they kinda won) :'(

Because it was made by humans, it'll be broken by humans.

Can't blame them for trying, what would you do if you spent thousands of dollars to make a game...and people are getting it for free?

    I'd try to protect it.

Really, AP will never win. At least one flash cart will always be able to bypass whatever AP Nintendo attempts to come up with, and that flash cart is nearly always cheaper than buying the real game, even after tossing a 8gb or so MicroSD card on top of it.

Too bad the AP is mostly showing up in newer games. It may just be the improved compatibility over the years, but I haven't seen one thread where somebody was having issues AP wise with a game from earlier than about September last year. Games such as Golden Sun DS will probably have mad AP on it, but that is one game I will actually buy, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

I can't decide how I should feel about this topic ???

Sure I've depended on Digital Piracy to get my hands on several games, but most importantly I do it because of the ROM Hacking & Fan Translation community.

I'm not sure if I support Brazenly declaring war on game developers is a good thing or not ???

Objection! The OP clearly contradicts himself!
Back on topic, I agree with Mr Veloza here.
Whilst I do enjoy my lovely piracy, developers do need money. Any game that I think they really put some effort into and I really like I will buy, because the developers deserve it.
But there are alot of games that I like, even though they're really unoriginal, or just really cheaply made, so I don't buy those.
But on the good games, they have every right to try and prevent pirates.

I remember someone saying that the point of AP is to slow hackers down.

In some cases, it is a prerequisite not just a right for them.

Actually it's to slow them down, it'll get cracked, though they make life hard...

That's where the dsi enhanced games come in, no one can get them to work 100%, all they need is more dedicated dsi games to nail us.

The problem is, they can't really do that. Although it would be great for preventing piracy, they would be destroying their bulk market since most who already had a lite or Phat didn't waste their time with a DSi. They would pretty much be slicing their market down to about 30%. I think that loss would be greater than the loss that pirates cause.

very true- there are far fewer dsi/xls than phats and lites. Besides dsi ware is a max of 16megs? something like that-

    Thats a funny point:

First, Nintendo took off the GBA Slot, then later made a update to brick flashcarts, then made a slight bigger screen version of the same console, then put AP(could come before the XL). Now they're making another console! Starting to notice some trend here.
