    I flashed my psp with the psp universal unbricker( slim) and for some reason it keeps saying that the games( isos and umd disks) wont work because of a region code error. I just got it for x-mas and im going to get killed if i cant fix it so can someone please help!

    Hi,

    I don't have much experience with ROM flashing PSPs, but I do know that they are not something to take lightly; when I had to flash my PSP I triple-checked every step within the Dark Alex M33 release FAQ (at the time; don't play my PSP much nowadays...). Go to the link below and go through the wiki carefully:

    http://alek.dark-alex.org/pspwiki/index.php/Main_Page

    You should find enough links to help you out with your dilemma. At all times pay strict attention to detail; it's very easy to brick your PSP.

    Hope this helps.

    I also just found this; it might help you out. Seems pretty similar in nature, though it is a dated forum thread.

    Hope that helps even more.

    Hi again,

    Wow, such gratitute :-\ Maybe the folks at psp slim hacks can help you better than I. I'm assuming that you've asked them nicely on their forums?

    Hope that helps.

    if your an m33 cfw user then go to the recovery menu by shutting down your psp. then press and hold R trigger then turn on your psp while holding the R trigger. you'll see a menu there, select the configuration menu then search for the line "Fake Region" change it to any region you want it to (mine was set to Disabled) then exit.

    ^ as said above, power off the PSP and hold R trigger. You can set a fake region in there, and while you are there also set your UMD mode to -No UMD- otherwise you need to have a UMD in the drive to play ISO games.

    ok ive got throug one problem, but can someone tell me why every time i try to insert a umd disk, it crashes my psp??
    the little circle thing pops up, indicating that its trying to read the disk, but then my psp will either cut off( if umd is inserted when the psp boots) or freeze( when game is on and umd is inserted)
    i can still listen to music videos and what not, but i cant play the disks...does anyone have a clue??

    check the settings in that recovery menu, also in the PSP menu try turning off boot UMD automatically.

    i already turned off the auto boot, and i dont think it has anything to do with the recovery menu because i did the same thing to my cousins psp and his works just fine.

    what version CFW are you using? you should upgrade to 5.00M33 if you havnt already. I found that some UMDs that required update to play would not work on lower version firmware, they either forced you to upgrade to OFW or they just plain crashed.

    see, here's the thing, now I know whats wrong, my cousin had 5.00-m33-3 fat and i had 3.71 m33-2 slim. so I told my cousin to update it for me, and he didnt feel like it so he just made a nad dump of his fat psp and tried to restore it onto my slim. also, i tried to change the region code error, it didnt work, i even tried using all of the regions avalible on the recovery menu.
    by the way, what exactly is cwf and ofw mean?? all i know is that the firmware im using is 3.71-m33-2, and it wont allow me to acces wifi, and i cant click on update because i get the region error.
    any idea guys??

    CFW = Custom Firmware.
    OFW = official firmware.

    OK so your telling me that you restored a PSP slim NAND using a PSP phat NAND? Im surprised you PSP works at all. I think the only way to fix that would be to re-downgrade your PSP. Unless you were smart enough to have backed up your NAND. If that wont work then id say your screwed.

    yea, actually, it wasnt working at first, I used a nad dump of my friends psp slim. the only difference between me and his psp is that his is white, and mine is black. at first, it kept stoping at flash 1, and when i did the nad dump of the other psp slim( cfw 3.71-m33-2, it worked, except for one problem, it wouldnt play isos or umds. any suggestions other than," your screwed", or "buy another psp", or any thing else that involves something negative...please. :-\

    Have you tried Almo's suggestion of Re-downgrading your PSP and installing the CFW again?

  17. Almo

    Almo Well-Known Member

    ^ yeah as I said re-downgrading should reflash the NAND and bring you back to a working PSP. Also using DCv8 to rewrite the IPL codes could possibly help, though I dont know a lot about that.

    rell Well-Known Member

    yea, i dont really know much about that either, could explain to me how to re-downgrade when I cant click on anything without getting the error code Almo??

    Almo Well-Known Member

    Just use the pandoras battery and magic memory stick to downgrade the PSP to custom firmware again.

    tried it, no luck, and sorry, i was in the wrong understanding because you said redowngrade, so i was thinking you meant downgrade as in 3.71-m33-2 to 3.00 or something.
    any other ideas??
