Theres a clinic in America (I think its there anyway..) that lets you choose what hair, eyes, tallness, smart or not, athletic or not ect. Do you think this is good or not. I think its bad coz then normal people could have a disadvantage and also, theres a chance of no one being unique anymore. I also think its unfair on the baby, being controlled even before it's born and not being normal. :-\ Shows that rich people would probably rule the world someday
its bad if that happens(which you said it already happened) the poor will be wiped out not because of this but because of the rich people who will use it
...I saw this one, but it ain't america, some other country that isn't to worried... I think it's a bad idea....think about it what kind of kid would you want? A girl of course How many? Just one? (all rich people want is just one) WHAT IF EVERYONE DID THAT! (exticntion prehaps???) Only the poor would have boys... Not only that but I think it's selfish-even if you already had 18 boys and want JUST 1 girl, your putting too much strain on the earth as it is! Okay time to get serious-It's messing with the natural order of life-it is descriminating (think of this-white couple having a dark coloured child-or parents with hazzel eyes and black hair wanting blue eyed blonde kids...). This reminds of what XhitlerX tried to do so many years ago, it's just plain wrong-if I knew anyone who went for one I'd tell them to stop indulging! Seriosly, it's just plain wrong, damm rich people gonna destroy natural order.
Re: Designer Babies?!? (is real (i saw it on the news), different to tother topi I am for designer kids, I think it would be a wonderful way to teach ignorant parents that no matter what DNA your kid may have if you don't love them and take some time to raise them you will still end up with a piece of shit. Shit parents destroy perfect genes.
that's right. good genes does not guarantee your kid won't grow up to embarass you by being a pornstar or a ventriloquist.
The reason why I said everyone wants a girl is...well if you think about it, girls are a tad easier than boys (or in some tougher-but parents over look that fact) plus it is pleasing to a thought... I went around many times and asked people I know...they all preferred a girl, very few cared about boys-simple fact is unless your a rough and tough guy you'd want a girl-and many rich people would want girls simple because they would seem easier to raise... Anyways, it was just my thought, I thinking about it from how a richer person might think, MIGHT. I guess I'm agaist it mearly because I'm old fashioned to some degree...
i'd prefer a boy though...but i'd like to be the dad that tells his daughter's boyfriend the 8 simple rules to dating my daughter
Sorry--i'm posting this a couple months later (I just joined today), but i read the topic and thought it was interesting. & i felt compelled to post... a lot of people think, "because this is available, and it will cost a lot of money, all the rich people are going to do it and the world will be dominated by the rich." Just wanted to note that just because people might be rich, doesn't mean they'll stay rich. So while it's a possibility, i agree with the other members that just because the kids will have excellent genes, doesn't guarantee that they'll be raised well. They could end up being super-human couch potatoes for all we know. And just another thought to consider--there are no rich without the middle class and the poor.. Whether i'm for or against the whole designer babies thing--i don't know. i think it depends on the extent of what they can design. For example, if it can guarantee that my future kid won't have birth defects and will be physically and mentally healthy, i'd definitely be for it. I also don't think it'd necessarily mean that everyone would be clones... I think the concept is to take the best genes from each parent (where the parents would be unique and special on their own) and that goes toward their child. And they'll be raised differently, because everyone has different beliefs, backgrounds, and values... so it wouldn't really be a world of clones, if you really think about it. The world would be just as diverse--just the kids would be healthier... and at the same time, I understand how people would be against it--it takes the romance out of having a child and it puts a mechanical hand on a natural process. *shrug* I guess it just depends on personal preference--If it's a couple's choice to go through with it, who am I to judge them? haha and another note... I don't really agree that girls are easier than boys... Boys might tend to be a little more agressive and have a lot of energy, but in the long run, there is a LOT less to worry about when it comes to boys as opposed to girls. For example, you don't have to worry about a teenage boy coming home with the news that he's pregnant.. (and of course dealing with all the repercussions of everything that comes with that package). I definitely would prefer to have boys when i have kids.
