I've been using the Pcsx2 v 1.2 emulator to try and run some the romance of the three kingdoms games but past the opening cinematic the games become very dark to the point its really hard to read menu text and makes the games unplayable, I tried messing with the graphics settings in the emulator but they don't make a huge difference. Was wondering if anyone has any tips on getting it to a playable state.
To help you i need to know your system specs and your GSDX (video) plugin settings. Please post a screenshot of your GSDX window.

Thanks Prectorian I also need to know what instruction sets you are using. Config > Plugins > GS > SSE2? SSSE3? SSE4.1? AVX? or AVX2? If your processor supports these instruction sets use highest version you can since it will be faster for you in this order from slowest to fastest: SSE2, SSSE3, SSE4.1, AVX and AVX2. Btw AVX and AVX2 instructions give a minor speed up only with the software mode. First of all, Change Render to Directx3D11. Direct3D11 mode which is usually the fastest mode and sometimes even more compatible as well. Highly recommended. Try playing that area now. I see you are runnung on Hardware mode, GSdx will use the Direct3D capabilities of your graphics card, boosting the emulation speed significantly but at the cost of accuracy. You will get near perfect fps but there will be glitches in game. Hardware mode gives you speed at the cost of Accuracy whereas Software mode gives you Accuracy at the cost of speed. Change it to Software mode and play through the location where the glitch happens. GSdx will use its built-in software renderer, which will not use your graphics card, but your processor instead. This way the emulation speed is greatly reduced and you might get a huge fps drop but you get maximum compatibility. Recommended if you encounter graphics bugs or black screens! While playing in S/W increase 'Extra Rendering Threads' to 2 or 3. Since you have a powerful processor @ good clock speed your system will do fine running the game on S/W mode. Thanks for the help! Set it up to 3 extra threads, and switched over to direct3d11 software it was set on AVX I don't see an AVX2. Don't you see a difference after switching to Software Mode? Also which "Romance of the three kingdoms" are you playing? VII, VIII, IX, X or XI?
S/W mode is supposed to get rid almost of ALL glitches in game, 'if the game is "Playable" on the emu'. I cant check PCSX2 wiki for compatibility unless i know what game you are playing.

A user reported this, the problem is somewhat similar to yours Maybe its because the game might not be playable on the emulator right now. I suggest you go to the PCSX2 Forums and ask the members there, they might be able to help you more. Also if you have a pirated copy of the Game or the Bios, DO NOT talk about it there. Do not mention it, if you do you will be banned.
