Dance Dance Revolution for PS2 with PS3 dance mat?

even w/ how little i've actually played them, i love the ddr games, so i was ecstatic when i saw a ps3 bundle on amazon for $25, $30 with shipping. from looking at things, it has a wired dance mat. ive read that it can be played w/out ps move, so yay there. now i have a backwards compatible ps3, but will the ps3 dance mat work for ps2 ddr games?

fuck. i just found out that even on a bc ps3, the ps3 dance mats wont work w the ps2 games. this. royally. sucks. ass.
