This is almost the worst day of my life!!!My 2GB Kingston Micro SD somehow doesn't work anymore. When I insert it into my Micro SD reader and plug it into my PC,the computer can't detect the Micro SD.And when I use it on my R4,the DS screen just shows "loading" forever.Usually it only takes about 1 second right? When I used my 1GB San Disk Micro SD on my R4,it worked,so its confirmed that the problem lies with my Micro SD.Could someone help me with this please?Am I able to make it work again if I clean it properly?I really want my Micro SD to work again,as I've spent hours on it and if it does not work,I've wasted my USD$30...

Can someone please take the time you help me?Thanks.

aside from cleaning the contacts with rubbing alcohol (97-98% pure ethanol, not methlated spirits or similar) theres not much that can be done, they do wear out eventually. How long have you had it?

do you take it in and out of your r4 card that often? or is it some inexplainable mishap?

I'm so glad that there's already people willing to help me out in such a short time. ;D

To Loonylion:Thanks for the tip.I've started using my Micro SD since August 8,so its almost 4 months.Guess I should've made a backup for my games and save files.

To Solus:Yes,I take it out of my R4 often, about once a day or so...depending on the situation, but at least once a day.

    Anymore suggestions?

U tried cleaning it already? I also had something like that problem. Well...i'm out of ideas. Maybe if theres nothing too important inside it, try reformatting the memory card?

This also happened to you before? Then that means you can totally relate to me! :)So,how did you eventually fixed this problem? And how do you reformat? And nope,I haven't cleaned it yet,I don't know where to get the cleaning stuff.

No actually to be honest, i havent tried to fix it. I have quite a lot of micro sd at home so i didn't bother. But about the reformating, im not sure exactly how u do it. But if i use it on my cellphone, it has the option to reformat. Try asking around.

So when you reformatted did you lose a lot of your game files and game saves?I have about 30 games in my MicroSD so its kinda depressing for me... :'(

well...i'm not exactly sure it works. just think that it could not load cause maybe some file is corrupted or something.

if a PC won't recognise it, you won't be able to format it. 4 months is not a long time, however, the life expectancy of media cards is not stated as a period of time, but a number of read/write cycles, so depending on how much you use it, that will ultimately define how long it lasts.

well he did say he takes it out once a day

that isn't the deciding factor so much as how many read/write operations are performed on it.

Unless of course it got damaged due to rough handling.

Same thing happened won't let me reformat it so i'm going to RMA it back to Kinston.

That's possible, but I would have thought that kind of damage would be obvious if it was the cause.

Maybe you could try returning it to the shop? And you don't save the games you downloaded in your computer?

Yeah,I don't.That was a terrible mistake that I made. That's why I immediately saved my 1 GB Micro SD to my computer. So I guess the only thing to do now is to call Kingston up and exchange my Micro SD?

When my R4 gets stuck at the loading screen forever, I just turn off the DS, take the microSD card out, blow on it, blow into the slot, and put it back in. Obviously it may have the same negative effect as blowing into an NES cartridge, but it works. Also, considering the size and "fragile-ness" of the card itself, I cannot imagine how it could last more than one year before ceasing to work or being sat on.

Well thats what i'm doing, and their customer support seems to be very good so hopefully their won't be a problem.

Sadly, this has happened to me as well. I'm guessing it was because of taking it out of the micro sd reader, and r4 very carelessly. I haven't had the funds to buy a new sd card, so i've been r4-less for about 2 months already. :S
