take the side off the case and blow a desk fan into it. Or you could just improve the airflow in the case. Besides, heat rarely has a noticeable effect on speed.

make sure the room is ventilated, that is air is being circulated. having a room where the windows are closed and the door locked would make the room hot and stuff, which would also increase the heat.

make sure you have intake air that will be blowing in towards the hard drive assuming if the hard drives are mounted in the front of the case.

you could also take out the side of the case and you won't have to deal with the heat but rather the noise.

the last alternative is to buy liquid cooling which will cost you quite a bit.

a normal person doesn't need liquid cooling, they just need sufficient fans and to maintain their computer properly.

you never know if he's normal or not. look at his signature, it's a picture of cloud, which in the game final fantasy 7 had a complex and he wasn't normal. maybe he placed that picture as a symbol of his personification of that character. you never know. ;D

only if they know how much was in it initially. If they bitch just say 256MB isn't enough, because seriously it isn't.

I've got two huge fans on each side, two small ones on the top. So loud though.

what case do you have and are you referring to pc case fans or something that loony has suggested [placing an oscillating fan towards the opened side panel pc case]?

PC case fans on my case. I removed the stickers/covers over the airholes which does block dust from coming in, but does not allow air to circulate.

i suggest using a dampening field which will reduce the harmonice resonance. ;D

they are basically foam that you buy from a computer store and place them on the inside of the case [sidepanels] as well as other places.

also, is it better to get more intake or outake of air?

I read that the airflow is improved if the computer case is closed.
It depends; do you want more cool air to come in, or more hot air to go out? Or do you want the two to be equal?

Correct, but blowing a desk fan into the case can often be a good short term solution to overheating. One of my high school teachers used that trick to mitigate a CPU fan failure. (it was a K6 mind you)

I found a Pentium MMX in my old computer. Tried to resuscitate the old thing, the computer gets power (fan spins) but doesn't start up. I don't know why. (There were ISA slots on it!)

Do the flat laptop coolers work well?
Ever since I reinstalled XP (instead of the from-factory Vista Home) my laptop seems to be geting a lot hotter.
It does this even though it's going into Fall now.

    Any tips?
The ice packs are a pain in the ass.
