some good ones I've played are: Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (idk if you count that as final fantasy), Pokemon Soul Silver (translation patch unless you can read japanese), and The World Ends with You (easily my favorite rpg on ds).
NOT BLACK SIGIL THIS GAME IS TERRIBLE try beyond the yellow brick road, a witch's tale, twewy, super robot taisen also, if you are into strategy rpgs then play valkyrie profile, disgaea, and shin megami tensei I HATE strategy rpgs and I thought those three were good so I'd check them out.
Hmm..have you tried Avalon Code or From the Abyss or Rhapsody-A musical adventure? Check out Etrian Oddyssey 2 and Magician's Quest-for this one u need to patch it or find a fixed version.

hahahaha I sorta liked it... I hated the map though, actually, I only liked it cause I had cheats on.
TWEWY is awesome, I had already played it, I finished it twice IN A WEEK. Thanks for the help anyway.
Luminous arc and valkyrie profile are nice if you like tactical rpgs. megaman ZX and castlevania series if you like platformers. hhmmm, then there's shin megami tensei:devil's survivor which i'm currently playing xD pissed off though as my save file crashed >< but gotta say, TWEWY is well, !!!EPIC!!!, when are they gonna make tat sequel even super robot n luminous arc are getting sequels T.T
Nostaliga is well worth trying, as is Atelier Annie. The full translation of ASH Archaic Sealed Heat is being beta tested right now, that is worth a go too - the first 10 minutes are horrible, then it clicks into a nice little game.
