converting video formats

    I want to watch a movie on a dvd,but its in xvid format.is there a program to convert it somehow?
    or is there a way i could just burn the xvid movie to a disk and watch it on my dvd player??

    xvid is pretty much the same as divx which usually uses .avi extension (as far as I have used anyway) so if you have a DVD player with divx built in (it will say so on the outside of the player usually Magnavox or Phillips brand) just burn it off and pop it in. plus if it is an .avi you can cram about 6 of them per DVD or one to a CD-R (depending on the size) most are around 700mb, but I have seen them to be 1.5GB at times.

    thats good information,but my dvd player doesnt allow xvid or divx playback.do you know of any converter programs??

    Have you tried searching for .avi to dvd I have never bothered with converting video formats so i wouldn't be able to tell you the best one to try. but give time someone will be able to answer that question better than I have.

    SUPER is a good video converter for near all formats.

    But if you want to burn an XviD movie to DVD, just use Nero for burning. It converts the Movie by itself when you use the Video-DVD option.
