Freezes EVERY time I try to do something...Type to many words in a short time, listen to music, play a game, browse the internet. ALL = FREEZE... I am currently getting ready to format..But what type of hardware issue could this be? Standalone programs don't even work properly. =/ Stress testing=freeze, Memtest86+=freeze....I've called my builder about repairs, but can't take it to him til monday...How can I get this thing running stable?.. Even running stable long enough to listen to some music would be nice...

It's not necessarily a hardware issue. It could be a program that's hogging up all the CPU(hello HP bloatware...) or it could be a virus of some sort as well.

You can try looking in your task manager for something that seems out of place, though I would highly recommend against just blasting everything in sight there. If you suspect something in there might be the problem, type it into google and see what it says before doing anything else to it.

might also be worth running sfc /scannow to make sure the system files are still intact. Having said that, memtest86+ is a bootable CD, so if that is freezing then it probably is hardware.

Can you remember the last few things you did on it?
It is most likely one of the last things you did that caused the issue.

Are you sure it's not that IDM thing in your last few posts?
Didn't it have some anti-piracy bullshit? It could have done something else...

Just did a fresh install of windows...IT FROZE APPLYING SLI SETTINGS....

    I can't do SHIT with the goddamn thing....begin driver install...wait 3 min...freeze.........

I have actually gotten a root kit finder bootable CD to make it long enough without freeze...nothing....

What piece of hardware is wrong more than likely? He says he'll run tests, but those come back as perfect when I do them, and when he does them...Loony believes it to be the motherboard...Is that what it's down to?..

    (Posted from my laptop)

EDIT: just tried "sfc /scannow" (W/o quotes of course..), and guess what?!?! IT FROZE...

random freezing is hard to isolate. Its unlikely to be PSU, but it could be motherboard/ram/cpu/drivers. If it will run fine from a bootable CD that suggests software or perhaps higher memory addresses (that the bootable CD isnt using)

It's not really THAT random....It's like if I do anything stressing...And It shouldn't be drivers, it does it with none installed, RAM, you know it sometimes doesn't read it, but it has no errors, CPU, unless it's a recent issue, then I don't see how...But anytime my cores go above 35% it does freeze... PSU is 1k watts, so it should be large enough...And like I mentioned, Memtest86+ this most recent time froze right after starting the test...And the root kit finder worked fine...BUT I had to manually shut down afterward(Froze?).

I do believe it to be the motherboard...how could ALL of this go wrong at once?..

    GPU's-Screen flashing.
    CPU-Freezing
    RAM-Not being recognized.

And those are the essentials I believe...

it is quite suggestive of the motherboard, that is true.

Is there any kind of standalone CPU test?...

As of now, windows won't even boot. :(

It locks up/freezes while the Microsoft symbol is loading onto the screen. :(

I cant think of a bootable cpu burn-in offhand, but im sure they exist.

    Non-helpful & a bit trollish post:

@Ryan P.: That's what you get for going to warez sites & doing porn a lot :p

    Constructive post:

Could be your RAM is/are going to die soon.

    Never happened on the desktop...
    May be....

    EDIT:...

I got windows to boot on it, so I noticed that the SLI went through before it froze last time....I try to enable windows aero...then green and black lines fill my screen!!!! D=

    GPU's=bad?

This is PROOF there's something wrong with the GPU's...Could the GPU's cause the freezing, or anything else cause the lines?

Also, it's not the monitor. It works perfectly on a neighbors computer.
