comments page dont load

Discussion in 'Site Support' started by Little miss shy, Mar 5, 2009.

  1. every time I try to look at a comments page for a game it don't load properly. All I get is a blank screen with the last comment at the bottom of the page visible, but as I scroll down the page that comment will disappear and the last line of the next comment will appare barely above the bottom of the screen making it very difficult to read. I have noticed if I move my cursor over where words are meant to be sometimes I can highlight the missing words, a bit like if it was written in white text. Also the blue/white banner that separates each post is not visible. I know its not major problem just a pain in the **** when trying to find out if the game works fine or if a patch is required and if its one I will enjoy before downloading. This has been happening since the last site update.

java and javascript aren't the same thing. Our website uses javascript, it does not need java.

  6. I had a look about and am pretty sure it is running but just incase I done it wrong dont suppose you can tell me where/how to check javascript.

Internet Explorer 6 works really horrible with RomUlation. (and just in general too)

The browser was first released in 2001, since IE7 has been released an IE8 is just around the corner.

Now a days the browser doesn't see anything but a rare security update when something major is found.

So based on that we don't really support IE6 so a lot of problems may exist in that browser.

For your own security and increased browsing pleasure I cannot stress enough that if possible you should upgrade your browser, either to Internet Explorer 7 or even better to an alternative like FireFox or Opera. Nothing quite like losing market share to encourage Microsoft to provide a proper product in the future.

  8. thanks seph when ie7 first came out I did give it ago but my comp is quite old now and although it will run the program it complained and thew a few protests (ran slow and locked up alot!!!), yes ie 6 is old and pants but its what my computer likes and I cant afford a new one. Guess I will ahve to live with the funky pages

Try mozilla firefox then, it's a lot less resource heavy (safari for windows is also good).

Nice, that is absolutely true :D and this site runs beautifully on mozilla, even on version 2 it runs great so i'd suggest switching, i mean it's worth a try isn't it?

  11. I have downloaded firefox and all works fine now thank you for your help. Other half dont like me changing things on the computer so hes not too happy (oh well!!!) so Iv had to leave IE 6 on the comp he can use that I can use firefox, can you tell me if having both on the computer will cause problems

no, having both will not cause problems, and in fact it is extremely difficult to remove IE. (This is part of what all the legal action in the EU against microsoft is about).

But you could disable IE6 or 7, err hide it actually because it doesn't really uninstalls it, by going to "control panel" -> Add/remove programs then on that click on add/remove windows components then simply unchecking Internet Explorer than clicking on next to execute.

that just removes the desktop/start menu icon.

Regardless of all the neat tricks to hide it, clearly that's not that's wanted here. So Little miss shy just keep IE6 around for your worse half and tell him to get into the new century. ;)
