Comment Flagging?

I Was wondering when it is appropriate to Flag a comment. When it's off-topic or not helpful at all or do we only thumbs down those.
Should we reserve Flagging for offensive/vulgar comments?

If it's off-topic, then I do at times, but only if it contains insulting words or for example if there's a topic on the latest AKAIO firmware release and someone just posts "LOL IMMA TR0!!l LOOLOLOLO" or something, then that's when I do.

If it's answering a question pertaining to said topic or something related, then I just answer the question.
Sometimes topics go off the rails for a few comments, but sometimes goes back to the topic. ::)

If it's against the posting rules.

Technical comments, rude comments, not in English, something completely not related to the game etc, basically if you think the comment should be removed then flag it.

Thumbs up is if a comment is good, not if you agree with it, for instance if someone argued against your belief but provided a solid reasoning such as, for example, "this games leaves a lot to be desired for fans of the series, casual gamers would enjoy the simplified gameplay, though". Even if you disagree with the fact that it leaves a lot to be desired, then there was a reason why the negative review was done, so this should be thumbed up.

Usually the negative reviews skip to the bottom pretty quickly because people are fanatics and misuse the rating system, so I will be invalidating a lot of comment ratings soon.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I Always feel kinda bad for Flagging because i know it makes more work for the staff, but i guess in the long run it's the best thing to do.

I really dislike a lot of the comments on the site. It's improved lately because we have flagged comments and we can see which comments skip the quality check. But there's still a large amount of older comments which stand out as a sore thumb with their non-game discussion.

But what if it's like a french ROM? Would you be allowed to speak French?

No. People are required to speak English on this site so that the staff can do their job properly.

    Uh hum!

So if it's a french ROM, and they want to post a positive comment on the game in french, they can't? I find that quite unfair, but whatever, it's just my opinion.

Except we wouldn't know if they were writing naughty things because we don't speak French. I'd rather keep the site's PG-13 integrity than fight for some noble cause of do-whatever-the-fuck-you-want.

Sorry Seph, I'm laughing so hard right now, as much as I agree.

It's good to give praise for a game, but in another language we can't agree, sure we have google translate but that's alot of work (sorta :p )

And with english being a dominant language, it's easier to just keep it all in english.

I should check out the comments more often, might keep me occupied.

    I don't see anything.

I dunno if He was being dead serious or trying to speak the casual way so the masses would understand it better than some technical mumbo jumbo, but he has a point.

And I can't laugh at the guy who let's me post here still.

Well, I asked Seph about it. I was following the rules, which said

    - It is expected that users do not curse or use swear language on the forum.

And he kinda sweared, but he said the rules are you can swear, but not extensively
