Comment flagged for SMS?

I've rewritten a comment several times, trying to get this erroneous "you are using SMS language" message to go away and get a comment posted, but it still keeps claiming I'm using SMS. The problem is I haven't been using it. Is there a list somewhere of flagged words so I can try and figure out why my comments are triggering this?

Weird, I never saw this kind of warning, and no one ever complained. I am almost sure it's not from the site.

It happens to me too. I tried creating a comment for a NDS game and it flags it. It's very annoying and prohibits me from making as many comments as I would like; however, you can defeat it by copying your text and trying to post it numerous times.

Funny again, it doesn't appear to me, it just doesn't write it. :p

Would you mind posting what your comment was in here?

Mine was "i heard this game is good, is it true?

cause i don't have teh patience to download it :p." (sorry, sleep is taking over me)

    Yeah, with the "teh".

And then it just went to the details page, and my comment wasn't posted, but no message appeared.

I recall loony mentioning that it sometimes flagged abbreviations like RPG and the like if used too many times, but that it should only do it the first time. You can just click on comments and submit again and it should work fine unless this was adjusted since then.

No it still works exactly like that, it's supposed to log the comments too, not sure why it don't though.
It's definitely something we need to work on and fine-tube, also the implementation of it. I've done some extensive work on the detection algorithm still need to figure out how to implement it nicely though, suggestions are welcome.

I would like to suggest when the comment "you are using SMS language" appears. The words that are identified as SMS language be stated also. In time way, users could make the necessary corrections.

Last time when I wrote a review, I had to keep guessing and amending and it ended up it was the game name that was the problem and I had to delete part of the game name. That was perhaps not too bad as people might be able to guess the game by reading part of the name. ;D

This time when I tried submitting a review and although I tried amending many times, the message keeps coming up. I give up submitting as I really cannot think what is wrong. I spelled my words all in full proper English. I saw some comments that people wrote include abbreviations or even an expression that is not even English and it can pass through to be posted. ::)

reviews are supposed to be posted in the forum, the game comments system isnt designed for that. Indicating specific words being flagged would require a significant re-write as at the moment its points based (e.g each infraction of the internal rules is worth x points, when the total number of points is equal to or greater than y points it gets flagged).

It's a bit bugged anyway, because words like "it's" gets converted into "it\'s" so you have to remove all those to submit it anyway. It's been tested more thoroughly in the new version so these problems should be gone there.

Oh, okay, it was only just a suggestion. If it's too much work, then not necessary.

Is there any word limit to posting game comments?

I'm not writing the very long reviews like in the forum but its much longer than the typical comments as most people write 1-3 sentences. Anyway, I prefer posting in the comments than in forum for 2 reasons:
    1) It's not those formal long reviews. It's more an easier to read short review for those who want to download.
    2) It's more useful there as people who want to download may just read to find out more. Probably only hard core gamers go all the way to the forum to read a review. ;D

Not really posting for points as so far not interested in downloading those games that need points.

You don't get any points for posting anyway, and there's no significant word limit for game comments, if you reach it you can be pretty certain you'll be banned since it's like 65,000 something. :p

Err, i'm lost here. Can anyone please point me out the SMS in the comment i tried to add to a DS (J) rom:

"Diego: maybe you have to use a special skill, magic or even a combo to advance through the tutorial?

Gee i hope it gets translated, it's really tempting!"

    ???
I can't submit it at all, the message keeps popping out :( Help :'(

go to the comments tab, don't touch your message at all, don't remove spaces, or anything, and then click submit again, and it'll pass through.

I tried that yesterday in the Post-Update Report topic on the main page. I tried to post a comment that was flagged for SMS, I think it was because I had used the shorthand "50MB" for "50 Megabyte"

I didn't change anything, and I clicked sumbit again, but it didn't pass through. I just gave up and figured someone else would tell the poster than the limit for free downloads had been 50MB for a while now.

Next time it happens then give me the exact text so I can check why it doesn't go through.

Same for me. I submitted it again like 10 times without changing anything, then 10 times with removing spaces or whatnot; 'never worked.

Really, where was the sms language in my message? Could it be the smiley i added at the end? (the jawed one)

I got this twice, wish I'd copied the text the second time (commenting on Moon earlier and just now on Game & Watch (U) ) so I could paste it here for review. I hate txt-speech when I see it in posts so I can assure all that I definitely wasn't using it in my comments.

That we flag it for SMS speak, doesn't mean there is some, it's most likely mean the algorithm is too sensitive and we're picking up on too many signs. We haven't actually defined a list of every SMS language word, we analyse the text and try to determine if it's legit or not.

It will need some fine tuning though. :p
