    Hello-now I will admit something-before I joined here I was a game collector-and thanks to ebay-still am.

Despite me downloading roms-those are crappy games that amount to nothing!

But however-despite the cost-I love games-especially one's that may be worth alot some day :)

Before I moved I had a complete copy of probotector :)) ) but farther threw out the box :)( ) and all I have left is a manual and cart-worthless.

But now with disc based games I have started again-here is my rare stuff.

-Legend of zelda collector's edition (without manual-case marked-orering one from uk and swapping manuals until it's worth it)

-Zelda wind walker limited edition (the one with Oot packaged with it) mint.

-Resident evil 4 collectos edition (dual box damaged from previous owner-but for $34 AUD I can't complain for the best thing I seen at EB games)

-Resident evil remake (also mint-cube version)

-House of the dead over kill BIG BANG BOX (has 2 gun shells and limited edition comic...bought it first day)

-6th dsi in Australia (got it before america got them XD)

-P.N 03 (debatable-but it is hard to find)

-Metal gear solid (from an ex-friend it's missing manual but otherwise good nic)

    -Devil may cry 3 (mint :) )

-Killer 7 (rare to find GC version so got ps2 instead)

    -God hand (debatable)

    -Golden sun (mint-as new :) )

-Mario kart GBA (forgot name-but came with golden sun-mint)

    -Mortal komabt 1 (Snes,had box...dad threw it :( )

    -Ultimate mortal komabt 3 (snes...bad condition-bought it out of impules :( )

-Super mario kart (blame dad for missing box again)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have more (300 games can't be wrong XD)

But I have to ask a few things...

1.List what you have-rare games or collector's edition only

    2.What you have (optional)

3.Best place to locate them (other than ebay)

4.Worth of games (if you know-no estimates) for collectors

Best place for me is places that still deal in old games (game traders here is aus) or private sales.

So go post you games and suggestions-I need to find some collectables :)

(and yes my dad never gave a dam about my stuff-he always blunders into my room and throws stuff out)

There is a downside to collecting rare games if you do plan on selling them a lot of the times you won't get the "high" prices unless the game is still factory sealed but 9 out of 10 at least be complete with box and books and any other BS that came with it. Also the rarity differs in each region. As for the "collectors edition" I personally think its a marketing scheme to add $10.00 to the price.

I guess the only "rare/collector" game I still have is Valkyrie Profile for PS1 mint, last I seen on e-bay it was going for about $60-$100

I had alot more but I had to sell them and I didn't get much out of them either, I would list examples of what I had but it would be depressing to me, and let alone off topic.

I have WoW Wrath of the Lich King collectors and Spore Galactic Edition mint. I don't usually buy collectors editions usually because there's no point to them, except for like outside game stuff like night-vision goggles and such. I personally think Collectors editions are for the hardcore fans of the games or game devloper. I guess the only rare game I have a copy of Jet Set Radio Future, not mint, though because It's off ebay.
I know I can't sell the Wrath of the Lich King one, because I used the code, and the Spore one I think would go for about £20 or so

It seems to sell cheapy where I am...

Oh and here's a tip-don't sell your games to big retail chains or second hand dealers-you get nothing for them!

Ie Eb games, game stop, game traders, cash convertes, etc...

Got god of war special edition for $30 today-after trading games back from eb games for a month XD

(and thanks to ripping software I actually saved some cash when buying it-box is stuffed but game is mint)

Oh and here is one dude who's expecting too much from a game...even I'm outraged...

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/METAL-GEAR-SOLID-3-SUBSISTENCE-ntsc-PS2-NEW-SEALED_W0QQitemZ320414544303QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_PC_Video_Games_Games?hash=item4a9a31f1af&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

When he was bidding it at 99c no one came on-would anyone pay this much-even if it's factory sealed and complete with all 3 disc?

I have a lot of boxed classic PC games (including a space shuttle simulator), and secret of mana and zelda link to the past on SNES. I also have flashback on megadrive (not sure how rare that game is).

I feel for you there I bought Final Fantasy II (US SNES) complete from a local game shop and the battery was faulty and wouldn't I couldn't convince them of it and I finally talked the guy into digging out a SNES system and play it to where he could make an attempt to save. He tells me "its saving see here?" and I told him to power it off and start it again and his "save" wasn't there. So I got a refund.

if you have some really old pc games complete with box and manual along with the other bits, you can find a good deal from selling them. it's a matter on who you're selling them to. there are pc games from the past where you'd get like a clothed map or something, which adds value to the game because it creates a sense of depth of the game for the player. it's also something that you can no longer obtain because it's out of print.

collectors games doesn't necessarily mean it's rare. halo 3 special edition as compared to the standard halo 3 may not make one special then the other though one have more stuff. i also believe it also depends on the value of the game, that is value where it's the content of the game. what this means is, is the game good or average. average games aren't going to be well valued even though you have a collectors edition like halo.

many cart games dating from 16bit and prior are rare. finding a copy of bionic commando, duck hunt and super mario brothers is rare. what makes it even better is if one finds the complete box set, the value of the game is rocketed sky high.

the legend of zelda collectors edition that was given to those who bought the windwaker game is a rare game because there is a game inside that was never released in the US.

metal gear solid 2 substance is rare. why? because for one thing it's no longer in print and the new metal gear solid trilogy pack [though it is metal gear solid 2 substance] has a different case packaging.

btw, metroid prime trilogy is going to be a collectors dream in the future. metroid prime trilogy is 3 games in one and all those 3 games are no longer in print and all those 3 games are beyond average games. if you can buy it then buy it because when it is no longer for sale, it'll be high valued. look at super mario all stars for the snes, that thing is highly valued because of the amount of games in a single cart [all good games and out of print].

Are you talking about the Metroid Prime Trilogy thats on Wii may be worth something in the future or will that also go if you have them in single issue game 1 and 2 on gamecube and 3 on Wii?

Its not boxed, but the save works, even if it didnt its easy enough to fix usually (button cell batteries).
they're virtually all boxed, complete with all manuals and whatever came with them new. Some of them are even on 5.25" floppy disks (only one is a CD based game, all the others are floppy based).

metroid prime trilogy will be worth a lot for the future!

when metroid prime 3 was released, many would have loved to revisit metroid prime 1 and 2 with wii motion control. well after 2 years [prime 3 released in august 27, 2007 in america], nintendo remade all the three games into a single package with new wii motion controls. what this does is make the old metroid prime 1,2 obsolete because no one no longer wants to play using those old way of playing [think resident evil 4 wii controls over resident evil 4 gamecube/ps2 controls].

look at super mario all stars for the snes. super mario all stars is a collection of super mario brothers 1-3 and the lost level game. when the game was released, it was warm because during the time most have already played with the previous super mario brothers game on the nes. but fast forward several years from that time, the value of the game has gone up. even today, the game is very high valued. the same should probably hold for metroid prime trilogy. right now you won't see it or feel it but later in the future it'll be highly valued.

i do plan to get it as i want to get rid of the old metroid prime games for the gamecube verson for the better motion control version. it was similarly the same decision i made for resident evil 4, that is i sold the gamecube version over the wii version as the wii version is way better then the gamecube version.

Ok if it does makes the first 2 games obsolete in favor of the wii motion contol, it would still seem to me that those 2 games might be still worth hanging onto, yes it might be the "old controller" version but there are some that do not care for the motion control of the Wii I am actually one of them. I am not bashing Wii at all, and I love the games I own on it, but sadly I can't really play them like most people can for long periods of time with the motions.

My 10yr old played the first and second game one and it took him awhile to get used to it, and when I got the 3rd he is still having problems grasping the controls and gets frustrated with it and goes back to the previous two. So I think there are other people that might want to stick to the original games, but like a lot of gaming related topics it all boils down to user preference.

Also your mention of Super Mario All Stars I understand somewhat of what your saying, but I believe its because its based off it being a Mario game and maybe the graphical changes to the orginal NES/Famicom games that were placed on one cartridge. Metroid is not a popular as Mario. Look back at the original Ninja Gaiden 1-3 that were on NES they ported all three to SNES with no graphic changes its not as valued as All Stars because its not as popular as Mario is, but the rarity of this is that there is not many of them can be found out there and I would almost bet there are people that never knew it existed in the first place.

mario all stars was released sometime in 1993. ninja gaiden trilogy was released in 1995.
ninja gaiden trilogy is less known because of it's late release date. have it been released earlier, it may have been more acknowledged. however, even though it did not gain popularity, it is still a very valued game in the market for rarity.

btw, i own ikaruga for gamecube!
